-Time and Patience teaches everything, Everyone new at their first time experience, period.

Follow this simple steps and you're done.
-Update your recovery to Latest TWRP(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2780164)
-Flash boot.img(from respected rom that you've flashed under Fastboot)

Now fastboot is require or i should say must go with S-ON devices. So bare in mind, whenever you flash new rom, you have to have flash boot.img from the rom that you've flashed under recovery, Which you'll find under .zip folder of that rom. And copy that boot.img file to whereever you've unzipped fastboot file which i've provided link below.

To flash boot.img under fastboot you've to use following command via Command Prompt from your pc.
-Reboot your device into Fastboot
HTML:
adb reboot bootloader
-Flashing boot.img
HTML:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
If you don't fastboot files on your device, you can download it from http://d-h.st/8BG Once done with downloading, extract .zip and put it somewhere on pc where you can easily access. And from that folder Hold Shift + Right Click > Choose Open Command Window here and type above mentioned command.

Reminding you again, flash boot.img for every rom you flash on your device. And most importantly only those which was made for Desire HD.

By the way, Welcome to XDA. :)

Try flashing cm 11. Those ROMs rock. And also with the old android version cobra has, you might not be able to install some (un)root apps from the play store.

P.s. Dr patron. He can't use that recovery..he has to use an older version..more in the lines of cwm 6.0- or twrp 2.5-

He will get a status 7 error as that ROM requires an older recovery.

LOL, Link works perfectly fine. I just checked it. In order to download it you have click on Download now. On Blue button!!! Not the Orange one!

Once you manage to download that file unzip it either on desktop or whatever location you prefer. After done unzipping it. Open Custom_rom.zip[the one you want to flash] and drag boot.img onto that fastboot files. remaining else is the same as i mentioned above on post.

Also you've to flash boot.img for every single rom you flash on your device. Until you're S-ON. And method to it, remains same as i mentioned here.

No. Your device wasn't bricked. Bricked is when u cannot access boot loader at all. A bootloader is your boot up..like how a PC boots up.

Your device needs an image to boot up to. That's the function of the bootloader. U had to flash the boot image cuz ur s on. With s on, u cannot write directly to the boot loader. More like a safety issue. There are advantages of s on and some disadvantages. The cons is that u hafta do the boot in fastboot, the pros is its a lil more difficult to mess your boot loader with an incompatible ROM.

Like on all my post i've mentioned to you about your issue; more preciously exact issue.,which was flashing boot.img(Kernel) to boot your device. And also it considered as Soft Bricked.

About recommending some of roms than there are plenty of roms to play with... But if you want to try out my work than headover to MoKee thread from the link below.
