I have never had bluetooth working at all right (apart from pairing it with my dell BT3 adapter). It doesnt seem to want to work with my tomtom or several BT headsets. It connects, pairs then drops

Sunny Cornwall ...
I've always thought that that's the way it is on all BT headset phones, it makes sense, if the incoming call was for my girlfriend, she can answer from the phone itself, and it automatically routes this through the phones speaker, and if it was answered from the headset, then it routes to the headset.. makes sense to me, I think it's quite good that it does that!

Hmmm. That's the way it's working both with my Plantronics headset (see earlier post) and also with my BT head unit in the car. However, it's not the way I've been used to as a long time Nokia user. With them (and a Sony Ericsson I briefly had) the audio was routed to the BT device (by that I mean, headset, car unit, whatever) no matter which device (phone or headset) did the actual physical button pressing to answer the phone. To me that makes sense as, if I went to the trouble to pair with a BT device, then I want that device to operate as the audio device.

Just tested both the BT devices I use regularly, a Plantronics 520 headset and a Pioneer head unit in the car. With both of them the audio gets routed to the device that answered the call. So, if I'm in the car and use the HU to answer then the audio gets routed to the car speakers/mic, but if I use the phone to answer the call then the phone speaker is used. Personally I find that method of operation a bit of a pain as a) my phone is nearer to me in the car than my HU and b) I've got to *unlearn* which button to press from years of Nokia ownership ....

However, from reading this ... http://www.bluetooth.com/SiteCollectionDocuments/HSP_SPEC_V12.pdf ... (see section 4.5) it would seem that HTC are correct and Nokia are wrong .... HTC get it right according to the BT sig.

Also, when the call is answered you can touch the loudspeaker symbol on the screen and route the audio elsewhere and it takes about 2 seconds to transfer so all is not lost!

So, to sum up. When the DHD BT connects to something it works properly. At least for me. However, I'm not seeing any 'not connecting' problems so can't comment on those issues!

HTH someone.

the Sony Ericsson MW600 works perfectly with HD2 - both for music, video & voice.
to me, it's important that it will work just as well with Desire HD.

Strange. But I never use the headset to initiate a call, I always use the phone to dial. When dialling the audio is always routed to the headset/head unit when dialling. Hmmm.

We don't have any Bluetooth experts on here do we? It'd be nice to make sure exactly what behaviour Bluetooth devices are meant to have before accusing HTC of messing up.

I'm having the same issue with my Nissan.
I have a feeling tho it's more something to do with the device going on standby rather than anything else.

I turned it, connected fine, and then after a minute after the screen turned off, it disconnected.

Got it up and running again, and once again, the screen went off and it disconnected.

Not sure if this is related, but I can't seem to use the bluetooth stereo headsets at the same time as the WiFi connection. i.e. using BT headset while watching you tube seems to crash. Works fine without using BT for audio.

it works and is fully compatible with MW600. the problem is that sometimes it seems to be paired, but there is no connection. Another problem is that you cannot make the bluetooth permanently discoverable. only for 120sec and maybe this is the reason.

sorry for the bad english

120s discoverable time is not a problem, just provides better security against hacking and BT-trigged "events" :)

-MW600 may stop working after a while, a phonecall can not be moved to it - rebooting MW600 works then. This behavior does not exist in windowsmobile. - but WM is very much slower when it comes to response/music controls.

Maybe a fix??!

Hi,

I found a fix finally!!

It was posted over at Android forums . com.

If you go to settings > power saver > "Disable Bluetooth" (Turn off Bluetooth if not in a call) and un-tick the box you might find it works as expected for Bluetooth!

I regularly drive more than 3 hours and it hasn't dropped BT once yet. Also allows access to my contacts through my car (Audi MMI)... am very happy!

Hope this helps - many thanks to GoodGravey who posted this fix.

Fixed 75% of the problem for me, but I still experience disconnects or missing audio (while connected). On top, it seems to have messed a bit with the GPS which now occationally won't connect or disconnects while in route. Bit of a paine, but all in all I'm better off now though! :)

Sadly, mine still disconnects.
Turned off Power Saver entirely, uninstalled my taskkiller, and crossed my fingers for the return journey, but no joy.

It disconnects when the screen turns off (a few moments later).
However, I did manage a call the other day and it stayed on. Seems wierd.

Bluetooth Car Kit (Handsfree) disconnecting

I had the same Problems with a JVC Car Stereo with Bluetooth.
My DHD connected to the handsfree but after a few seconds (as soon as you permitted access to the Phones Phonebook) disconnected. One solution was to not allow access to the phonebook.... but that was not very satisfying!

After a factory reset everything worked fine but as soon as I put my contacts on the phone the problem appeared again so I started looking for the problem. I started to overhaul my Contacts, and when looking at Linked Contacts…. I found that I had a lot of links in there…. Many of them double, treble or worse (10x) the same contact connection.

After clearing all these wrongly or better said excessively linked contacts my Bluetooth connected fine without any problems including the phonebook access and everything.

I must have deleted some 1000 linked contacts (10x the same phone contact etc.) took me some time but it was worth the effort.
I guess these excessive linked contacts came from using smartphones for a while and always syncing the contacts back and forth… and always answering nicely “yes” when your phone asked you if you would like to link this phone contact to this google of facebook contact …..:D

Hope this helps someone with the same issues...

Sorry to disappoint you, but on Settings there is NO power saver, so what are you really using??

I can confirm that it is the address book!
I unpaired the device and re-paired it but did not give the car access to phonebook. At no point did it disconnect.

Worth replying to HTC with that mail, because it's a bug if you can't connect to the address book, and even more of a bug if the car can see people's names without having connected to it (which I could!)

I have the same DHD problem with my Audi, "com.android.phone" crash when I connect my phone to the car.

remove all "link" to all "linked" contact, no change
edited al contact entry to avoid all "unknown" entry no change
turned off bluetooth power saver don't change anything too

all was working nicely with my old Touch HD1 but now with de DHD it's a pain ...

I have the solution !!!

Guys, on when I bought my DHD 10 days ago, I immediately put my hands on configurations & settings. You know what ? I never had any disconnection between DHD and my BT car system.

Yesterday I made some other changes and you know what ? I got some BT disconnection. So I reviewed what I did, made some undo and...voila'...no BT disconnection any longer !

:)

Wonder how ?

Listen to me. I have standard ROM from HTC, and I have a program called "Pannello auto". English version would sound "car kit", I assume. Ok, get into it, open settings, open "ket per automobili" (in English should be "car kit" once again). You should get 2 settings like "automatic load" and "automatic connection" (I am just guessing what the English version would be"). Ok, now ensure you have BOTH checked.

Voila' ! See if it disconnects now. I bet no !

More in deep you may notice that it shortly disconnects when screen goes off. 1 or 2 seconds later it reconnects and stays forever.

Let me know. If it works I deserve one beer !

Ciao !
Paolo
