Nope.
Not even rooted with a custom rom. I suppose, the issue, is that the audio drivers don't get loaded until the OS finishes fully booting, and that would ba after the bootanimation.

I have made a lot of boot anims in the Themes thread and a couple of months ago spent a considerable amount of time trying to solve the "sound" problem. I visited threads in all the Tablet forums and many of the Phone forums and burnt lots of midnight oil writing scripts and amending build.prop files all without success. I have been told by several people that the answer lies in the fact that Acer has "locked" the bootloader and until they release an update to free that (if ever!) then bootsound will not be possible.
It's not just Acer. It's "all" devices, phones and tablets.
HTC, has agreed to "unlock" bootloaders. Guess what. you still cant do audio during boot animation, because the sound drivers, haven't loaded until the OS boots.
It aint gonna happen. Not until, the bootloader contains it's own audio capabilities. And, that ain't gonna happen in our lifetime.
Consider it like the BIOS on a pc. Anybody ever heard any audio during that time???

Anybody ever heard it when nokia goes though it's boot sequence? No. Apple...No.
So... It ain't the bootloader.
My thunderbolt does audio with the boot animation. You just have too name the mp3 "finalthunder"
And my dinc1 also does it
And to your previous post sorry new to Acer.. I read through the first few pages of the boot animation thread and didn't see it.
And the a100 section is bare, which I have..

Acer cannot do this, unless it does like some devices, and uses a "slight of hand, and merge boot animation with the actual rom boot.
Yes, it can be done. But not from the bootloader. At least on most international devices.
But considering, motorola manufactures the droid, and controls the skins, perhaps they can.
But for Acer, and the rest, no. And if there were a way, believe me, everybody would be doing it.
And with Thunderbolt, well,,,,, it isn't such a popular device in the world, so I really can't comment. ( I actually expected a lot better things from that device, but most of the "other" world, said NO WAY.

Also the EVO does boot sounds and all devices running miui. Whats with the elitist attitude about my device anyways? Completely irrelevant too my question lol

But the original answer is still "no". You cannot add audio to the boot animation on the Acer a500 or the a501.
