Hi, a friend of mine had his One X stolen then he found it , anyway now the phone dosen't boot, i can go to FASBOOT MENU , but there's no backlight at all the screen is almost black, and in the FASTBOOT menu i can't select anything : if i press the 'volume -' it does nothing, 'volume + ' it moves down, power button it moves down( like if i have prseeed the volume + button not the power buton) and dosen't select anything.
Any help ? Or is the device hardware-bricked not just soft-bricked ?

typically, any time you can get into bootloader, you're not bricked, however in this case, seems like your volume buttons are broken which leaves you SOL unless you can fix them. Since it gets into fastboot, you could probably RUU if you're S-OFF and then return for warranty for the hardware issues?

Also, sounds like your backlights broken. Need to replace the screen to fix that and since prying the digitizer off is next to impossible, you would replace the digitizer too. If you're going to do it yourself, keep the old screen to in case you need to sync the screens. Replacing screens on this phone can be tricky so I don't suggest trying it if you don't have some experience already.

Good luck

*edit* if you're not S-OFF you could also fastboot flash zip rom.zip whatever rom and then access recovery using ADB then S-OFF then RUU, then try to have it replaced/fixed under warranty.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, so the backlight is definitely a hardware issue ? I don't think that replacing the screen is worth it , i guess the motherboard needs to be replaced too since the hardware buttons aren't fully working ( at first i thought that the person who stole it wanted to run RUU to get past the screen lock and did something wrong while flashing but now i think that he maybe dropped it into water ) .
I can flash the phone even if i'm unable to select either one of FASTBOOT and HBOOT modes ? (I'm not familiar with HTCs only samsung moto and zte)

The one xl should jump to fastboot right away when entering bootloader... at least my phone does anyway, so i assume they all do.

But yeah, sounds like that phone is ALL KINDS of messed up.
