You usually just go into settings and it has several different things you can access through there. If I understood your question correctly....

the phone settings menu item is not in settings. at least, i am unable to locate it. more precisely, i am looking for voicemail settings, which i am unable to locate in any available settings.

Voicemail setting.. open caller app. Press setting capacitive/Settings. scroll down til u see voicemail

this is exactly what i was looking for, i'm just used to finding this in settings instead of through the caller app. thanks!
