I do not have permissions to post in the development forum. Otherwise, I would have posted in this thread.

[ROM][Android 4.4.1][Camera works] CM11 with ION [12/10/2013]

There have been multiple reports that the error, "Unfortunately, the android.process.media has stopped"... or something along those lines. I too get this error repeatedly.

I wiped my cache+dalvik+data and I even formatted all partitions besides the SD card. I can stop the message by unmounting my SD card. I tried other user-suggestions such as "fixing permissions" inside 4ext and removing the DCIM folder from the SD card; neither worked.

~----~----~----~----~----~----~----~
Another issue, which I do not know if related, is when I load the boot-loader screen it quickly runs several "checks" of files. Two checks say "No image or cannot be found":
PG58DIAG.nbh
PG58IMG.nbh

The others just say "No image!"

I searched and saw that malybru answered someone with a similar problem:
Hi,

When the phone boots up,the first thing it does is to look for PG58DIAG.zip or PG58IMG.zip files on the sd card.
It will start to run them if they are there.
If not ,then ,it will just boot normally.
So I get the impression that everything is fine? I'm not understanding what the PG58 actually does. Meh. I have finals to study for >.<

Follow-up

Is there any information that would be useful to developers that I should include? I want to help debug this so that this issue is cleared, this ROM is an epic advance for Sensation users...

FOLLOW-UP:
I re-cleared my cache, dalvik, and data. I also re-formatted all partitions again AND the SD card this time. The error is still there unless I unmount my SD card.

fix permission

I was having the same issue like yours after flash cm11 from android1234567.
Maybe you can try

- fix permission from recovery
- reformat sdcard
- create new a folder call DCIM and make a folder inside named Camera

it is what I do to to recover from that error

Thank you for responding. I pointed out that I had already tried to fix permissions and reformatting everything (including SD card).

The bug pops up a lot less frequently after having the ROM installed for an entire day. I will still take your advise and add a folder named "Camera" to DCIM. Hopefully that will permanently solve the issue.

I have my own finals to study for as well :crying: My APUSH final has 80 insanely-hard multiple-choice questions spanning 17 chapters of a very long & boring textbook, and an in-class essay from hell. 80 multiple-choice questions and an in-class essay, and only 2 hours to do it all (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

The PG58 stuff you seen in bootloader mode appear because you have an SD card inserted; the bootloader was just checking your SD card to see if it had a bootloader-update package in it.

I'm not sure why so many people are getting the media process force close... Maybe it'll get fixed upstream in the CM code without us having to try and fix it.

After doing this last night, my phone has not given me the error once. It's been 8 hours so far. Thank you fitrifini :victory:

That certainly does not sound pleasant. Just remember that it will be worth it when you get into the university of your choice :) As fitrifini said, there is a work-around for the bug; so don't worry about a thing.

Thank you for your work with the ROM, I hope your exam goes well.
