[Q] Building CM7 From Source Questions

Hi there,

I'm using Wubi with Ubuntu 10.04 and i'm following all the steps to build CM7 from source. I've allready downloaded all the source but i'm facing a problem.

Copy proprietary files

(...)

Connect the device to the computer and ensure that ADB is working properly.

(...)

I cannot connect my phone through ADB because Ubuntu doesn't recognize my phone. Is there any way to copy that files, or any way to make X8 work in Ubuntu?


And another question,

"Download RomManager"

i cannot understand what i have to do here, can i bypass this step? I don't use RomManager on my phone

And the third question,

I'm following the steps for Hero, so... for X8 it will be this right?:

. build/envsetup.sh && brunch shakira


And the last question,

This script builds the Kernel? If yes, where is the kernel source files located?

What ubuntu are you using? [oh I didn't focus that you said "I'm using Wubi with Ubuntu 10.04"] Did you install usb driver?

I dont remember exactly but in my Fedora, "adb devices" regconizes my x8 correctly without installing driver.

And 2nd question, you don't use rommanager, now it's time to use it!

i've installed Ubuntu 10.04 through Wubi, were can i find the usb driver?

So i have to follow that step?

I found this with google, you can check out, maybe it could help.

I think if the guide say "download rommanager", you should use it There's a free version, so why you don't give a try?

Edit: Hmm.. ROM Manager doesn't support X8!

about the rom manager, i think i can bypass that step, but maybe i should wait for some dev to help me with that or send a PM to a dev asking that
