[Q] built-in wifi hotspot quits after a couple days on various ROM's and builds

As the title says...not limited to just one ROM. The hotspot can be detected, but nothing can connect to it. To fix it, I have to restore an nandroid backup or reflash the ROM. Any ideas of why it fails?

Note: I have noticed that if I only do a cwm restore of "system", the problem is fixed. Not so for just a "boot" or "cache" restore.
