Anyone have any idea how to enable call recording on SlimRoms Jellybean 4.2.2 on Samsung Captivate?

Any info would be much appreciated.... trying to catch my mother-in-law lying, talking crap, and creating drama in our lives.

Thanks, in advance !!

If it's not a feature in the ROM, you'll need to ask the Dev for it. Or find a app that does it. Keep in mind that it's illegal in many places.

Just curious. What do you imagine that you will do with the recordings?

Dealing with abusive people is a tough problem, I know from personal experience. If you think you are going to seek legal remedy or a restraining order, then you really need to consult a lawyer. As BWolf56 noted, recording the call without other caller's knowledge and consent can get you in trouble.

an idea: add her to your call blacklist and let her leave abusive voicemail messages, if she will.

good idea... would still be nice to record some of these debt-collectors/robocalls as well.

as for recording legality, if someone calls you and says "this call may be recorded..." then you are allowed to record it in any state. There are only 9 states which are "all-party states" which means all parties must be aware that their call might be recorded. Every other state is a "single-party" state, meaning they can record, or I can record... as long as one of us know the call is being recorded. Basically, the law states that you can't eavesdrop on a phone call which you are not a part of. Unless you're the government... they can record or monitor anything at any time without letting anyone know about it.

There are many uses for this. i've been using Call Recorder on my Note 2 for all work related stuff. Recording conference calls, the client directions, the creative directors, suggestions etc. And I also have a boss who i have a hard time understanding her accent. Call recorder lets me listen to her again lol.

Another good use of recordings...
I'd like to record phone interviews to review and critique.
Or
My wife had a stalker harassing her. Without recorded messages, certain charges can be hard to prove in court. Police officers always recommend recording these types of conversations.

CallRecorder + Alsa

CallRecorder (paid software, evaluation period free) gave me some trouble recording calls on my Evita running SlimRom. Eventually I got it working with the recording method set to Alsa.

i can't even run callrecorder in slimrom. it just hangs. other ROM i tried is fine using alsa.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

after few tries i got the flash message that root is granted and it can start. after reboot, it working fine for both outgoing and incoming even without persistent notification.

xposed module not required. alsa is enough.
