[Q] Camera Won't Start

The camera on my 1 month old HTC Titan X310e has stopped working. When I push the camera button or when I select the camera app, the usual screen pops up for a second and then the camera app immediately quits and goes to the live tile screen. I have tried soft resetting, swapping the sim, 30 second period with no battery, everything but a hard reset. A similar issue has apparently happened to HD7 owners who seem to have traced the issue to a loose camera (reconnecting the camera on the circuit board by pressing hard or by disassembly and repair) but this does not seem to be the case for me. It happened a week ago and I theorized that perhaps there was a corrupt photo already on the phone preventing the camera app from starting (since the camera app is capable of displaying photos), so I deleted the last photo I had taken and it worked. So yesterday when the camera app failed again, I ended up deleting all 25 photos to no avail. Therefore, I am starting to think that the corrupt jpg theory is flawed. Incidentally, no other app that uses the camera works. Any ideas? Anyone else having this issue? Pity to return a device if there is a fix.

I was going to suggest the HD7 fix but it looks like you have that covered. I would send it back for repair.

I had the same issue. The first couple of times the camera app would show a black screen. I rebooted it and it worked for a couple more pictures. Then the camera app would open and immediately close. I tried everything including a factory reset. No luck.

I was within 30 days so I went to the ATT store and exchanged it for another Titan. I hope this one keeps working. I like the Titan phone but I am rethinking the quality. I had my focus for over a year and it work flawlessly.

Resetting the phone to stock condition did not fix the camera issue so there must have been a hardware failure of some sort which is a surprise since the phone never received even a minor bump. I returned the Titan for a replacement and hope things work out better with this one. To me the HTC Titan together with Mango represent modern high art.
