Bricked mine

I just flashed a TWRP backup from a XT1045 in the hopes of getting the right radio onto my XT1042 and now it's bricked. I can't boot or even get to recovery. I just end up in fastboot with a error "error loading system". I don't know any way to fix that.

So I guess I'm out of this quest for now.

Do you have your twrp recovery

---------- Post added at 03:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:31 PM ----------

If so put it in a folder by its self. Make a .bat file in that new folder. An put this command. In the .bat file. "Fastboot boot (recovery).IMG" that should boot twrp with out writing to the phone

Cool! And then how do I unbrick? Flash a 1042 ROM from USB OTG?

If you have the latest twrp it will have adb enabled just use the push command an push the ROM or twrp backup to the phone. Twrp also has a file manager move the backup to the correct its gonna be /sdcard/twrp/backups/(kernel)

My bootloader seems to have gotten relocked, and when I put in the fastboot oem unlock code I get

(bootloader) fastboot oem unlock disabled!
FAILED (remote failure)

I think i'm just going to sell it for parts on Ebay, because even if I restore it I still have the original band problem to deal with.

Got the same exact issue. Tried flashing twrp backup from xt1045 to XT1042 and bricked it. tried flashin the original backup but could not get back into recovery mode. bootloader was locked and not even the Motorola oem unlock code worked. turned into a paperweight

Oh well.

:mad::mad:

Here's what I did. I bought a broken screen 1045 cheap from Ebay and transferred the mobo from the 1045 to my 1042 (all the other parts are identical). Now I have a 1045!

Cool. Didn't know you could do that. Why not, I guess. Today's smartphones are as powerful as yesterday's servers.

I tried this too, but managed to screw up the ribbon connector on the replacement mobo. I couldn't even get it to turn the screen on no matter how much I adjusted the ribbon connection. I finally got so disgusted with the whole situation that I threw all of the parts in the trash and gave up. I still have the original XT-1042 that I bought to use as a wi-fi tablet so I'll keep tinkering with it. I had hoped I could change the IMEI on it to the one that was on the board for the cricket MOBO I had tried to swap out on the other one, but so far I haven't been able to get QPST to write the value for item 550 and get it to stay. If anyone has a better method that works can you share, or send me a PM if it isn't something we can discuss here.

I used the QUALCOMM BAND UNLOCKER guide here on XDA to unlock the GSM bands and then set the phone to RUIM Only using DFS. This is the band reference that worked for me the best: 562950069289863. If I unlocked too many bands the phone did not get a signal. Since we can get the diag port to show up by booting into BP Tools mode, most of the guide is not needed. Only the QPST and RV_NV_Manager.exe part to read/write the bands after getting the reference number from mzTool_1.2.1a.exe.

I hope this helps.

Oh and the SPL/MSL was 000000 for this model.
Yes, 562950069289863 helps for me as well. Flashed via QXDM

QXDM is not QPST.
Yes I know that, that's fairly obvious. I'm saying I have both QXDM and QPST installed. Some posts in here have said that the bands can be enabled using QXDM, others have said it can also be done in QPST. I don't care which program I do it in, I just need to know specifically which menus or executables from which piece of software I need to use.
