I've read about short charging cord - and the charger looks like a plug in device - that you run a USB 3.0 cable to from the Plug to your device - is that correct---- ?.

I frequently use my current e-reader sometimes while I'm charging it from an outlet at the end of the day.

* Is this possible - or does the device turn off while charging?

* Can I charge the device - while using as an e-reader

* Is there a way to charge the device while on a stand or some sort on a desktop.

I don't anticipate wanting the Dock later on - but having a way to keep teh device charged during my user habits is a must.

Thanks

Yeah its mains plug/charger>usb 3.0 cable>asus 40pin cable>tablet. Some usb 3.0 cables seem to work, others dont. Seems to hit and miss if you get one that works. And yes you can charge it up while you use it for anything. There should be 3rd party docks being sold in the near future if you dont want the official keyboard dock.

I was just planning on using a cheap bookstand - or building something quick and easy that I can thread the charging cable through as a desk stand / charge station.

You can use it while it's charging, but the cord being short would probably make it very uncomfortable for you to. That being said, this thing lasts all day, I don't see it a problem if you fully charge it and do a reading, it's not going to run out of juice.

Although you got me thinking about something. The connector on asus end is proprietary, but the other end is a regular usb adapter. I wonder if you could buy a USB extender and extend the cable. This would probably have to be answered by ASUS.

Heh thats what I've been hammering away at today. Finally made one then realised I had an old plate stand thing that works just as well. I had to use the usb 3.0 extension to make it reach up properly on my computer desk though.
