I know there's already a thread about accessories, but this is more for discussion of compatibility.

The manual for the Note II says not to use screen protectors, as they may interfere with the S-Pen. I know from past experience that Gorilla Glass is not scratch-proof. My Samsung Vibrant has little pocks and scratches all over it; I've never used a screen protector for it. Are there any known screen protectors that will not interfere with the S-Pen? What's the best to get and why?

As for cases, I want to get an Otterbox, since I've heard very good things about them. Size isn't an issue as this phone is pretty massive already. I want it to be as protected as possible. I am willing to give a little for NFC compatibility, though. What cases are available that do not hinder NFC?

I know Google has a lot of answers, but I'd rather hear from people with experience on these things, maybe with the original Note or Note 10.1.

I would go to the other Note II forums and ask.

From what I have observed in those threads people are saying there is not that much of a difference on whether or not you use a screen protector. Of course, on XDA there are always people who advise not to use a screen protector, but I find it weird people do not want to put a screen protector on a $600-$800 device that will go into pockets and bags, where it is possible there are loose grains of sand or particles that may scratch the screen.

As far as cases and NFC, I haven't heard there being many issues about this either. Of course if you add a case there may be some disruption, but also think this is negligible and may be very hard to measure.

Screen protectors probably won't do anything with touching the screen, though it may make it harder to "glide" the pen across the surface, depending on material. What it will do though, is probably interfere with the hover actions of the S-Pen as it will likely make it so you need to be closer to the screen than you would otherwise.

I don't know if that is true. People who said they have had issues with S-Pen and screen protectors usually just increase the sensitivity of the S-pen.
