[Q] Change CID

Hi,
I was just wondering if I wanted to change the CID of my Mini2 so I got ordinary HTC Updates instead of Provider updates, would I need S-OFF? Or is there another method to changing the CID.
It seems S-OFF is still not yet available. Would it be enough to unlock Bootloader, flash different recovery/root, change CID somehow, unroot, reflash stock recovery, and relock Bootloader?
Would that work? And would I still get OTA updates?

Well you will need to change CID. And that can be done from an unlocked bootloader, The custom recovery is optional.
