So when you go to the cyanogenmod mightlies page

change xx for tt

do you download the .zip or the .zip.md5sum.txt?

Grab the .zip . The md5sum.txt contains the MD5 hash...which is one method to verify that you've downloaded the full file.

Then, you flash the .zip

You want just the zip. The md5sum is just a verification for you to see if what you downloaded is what you think you downloaded.

You can run md5sum on the zip and compare your results to the md5sum file from the repo.
