How, what are we going to say? We rooted our phones and found it?

I have the same folder. Updated 21 September 2011 at (Ironically) 4:20. The temp file in it was updated 1 January 1970(?) lol.
Jailbreaking an iPhone is legal and it would be the same for any android device with any carrier if brought to court.

Yeah i have found a few files on my phone and all with that date and others with a date of 31 dec 1969.

Curious as to what the files in that folder do/are for.

Reheheally? So, we are just 'voiding' the warranty? ****, I am in to take the man(VZW) down for this! Free phones/service for life?
I had the same idea when I learned that apple users won their case for jailbreak. Google the ruling its pretty interesting what the courts said was legal for us to do with our phones. I think it pretty much said WE own it WE can do what we want as long as it isn't stealing services and such.

What I wonder is can you take the file from a stock GB build for the X2 and replace the one you currently have on your custom ROM or rooted phone and lock the file so it cannot be overwritten or written to. If this file does store such information Verizon would have no way of changing it.

EDIT: Found this. Worth a look!

Well had a little boot loop going on. I will post when I can confirm working with reset. :)

I was a little too eager to post. I will update soon!

Throttle Mod (Updated 10/14/11)

DISCLAIMER:
I cannot be held responsible for what YOU do to YOUR phone. With that said let's start!

(FYI: I use Root Explorer for this)

1. Preform a NAND Backup if you do not have one already :)
2. Make sure you are in WiFi or Airplane mode, or are not connected to 3G
3. Open root explorer and navigate to '/data/system/'
4. Find the 'throttle' folder and change the folder permissions to 'Owner:' 'Read' and 'Execute' only. (r-x------)
5. Open up the 'throttle' folder, you should have 2 files in here, one is 'temp' and the other is something like '-1226839461'. Backup these files to your SD card in case you have problems.
6. DELETE both files in the 'throttle' folder.
7. Reboot.

I am getting constant speeds of 2.31Mbps down and .7+ up. (On Eclipse 1.2RC1) Keep in mind this is only a theory for now, until I can get confirmation that it works for you guys also.

So where did you find out about this and how is it suppose to change anything !!!
Verizon some how uses the values in these files to identify you and throttle your data speeds, if the system can only read and execute these empty files, then my theory is Verizon can't throttle you.

He also could just be another guy with a slim background experience like me saying he found this folder just to blow smoke. If it works, you need to get this dude on xda!
