Here is what I am running:

Phone: SGH-T999 32GB
Ext Sd: 64 GB Sandisk Class 10 UHS 1 formatted FAT32
Firmware: UVALJ4
Baseband: UVLj4
Recovery: ClockWorkMod Touch 6.0.1.2
Root: SuperSU
Debloat: Partially debloated (more to come)

I would like to start themeing. Starting with the status bar. To do this I need to deodex my ROM. I am not looking to load a pre deodexed rom cooked by someone else. I want to learn to do this myself with the eventual plan of possibly cooking my own ROM.

As i understand it I have two options:

1. Copy the ROM image from the phone via odin or CWM and deodex on my pc
2. Deodex in place on the phone.

Does anybody know of a fairly easy way to do this. The best I could find googling was a shell script that was not written for the SGS3 or non-generic utilities not written for the SGH-T999.

Thanks in advance for your help

A lot of people use dsixdas kitchen to do this. He recently updated it to work for our s3. Look for it in the dev section.
And odin wont pull an image off your phone, its used to flash the firmware to your phone.
You can download any available fw from my firmware/ota thread stickied in dev section.

Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
