Maybe its just me but if you really want good pictures.....invest in a camera: s
The camera isn't fantastic but its decent and that's good enough the other features make up for it imo.

I have plenty of good cameras but why carry them around with you all the time for daily casual shots when a good phone camera can achieve results which are very satisfactory.
I probably shoot using my cameras at the weekend or when away on holiday.... however, with the phone the camera gets used daily.
I have more shots of my granddaughter taken with the phone camera than I do with all of my dedicated cameras put together.

Technology on phone cameras has moved rapidly this past few years... why should we be limited and stay under the stigma of a phone camera can't take a decent shot.

I have been running Desire HD on my HD2 this last few days thanks to the XDA Devs and it is very good.

Given this, I will not shell out the cash for the upgraded hardware of the Desire HD.

I will wait for the Desire HD2 (or whatever HTC choose to call it) :)

Far far away...
HD2 FTW

I love my HD2. Its very versatile. WinMo 6.5. Android 2.x. Ubuntu. Soon Meego. Probably Windows phone 7. All out of XDA of course. The fantastic devs here at XDA and others have made this phone the stuff of legends. I'm running the Desire HD ROM. When i get bored of it, i reboot and play with WinMo 6.5 ENERGIZED with the Energy roms from NRG, another LEGEND of note! When i get bored of that, i might like to play with Ubuntu and Meego when thats ported.... so many options, the adventure never ends...

Get yourself the Desire HD... and thats all you'll have... get the HD2 and enjoy the ride... :D

I never seen so many layers of programing in a OS like WM 6.5, it's crazy...

The thing that I enjoy in Android is that when using it and it's Apps, it feels like its just one software, feels like apps really are integrated in the core...

It's hard to explain, but the people who are now using android port on their HD2 knows what I'm talking about...

regarding your question, I think you should wait a little longer m8, meanwhile use the android on your HD2 and test it out, you going to enjoy it.

I still have my HD2 and if I had the money would like to have a DHD also.
If I had to give the HD2 up, to have only one phone. I'd give the DHD a chance.
Considering specs, the DHD is still better than the HD2.
- Camera - better
- Touch (feel of all aluminum) - better
- Storage - better
- OS - better? (Some prefer WinMo, I haven't played with android much so can't give a good review. I am very interested in Android though, Froyo seems one of the best Smartphone OS's with so many possibilities. And together with HTCSense.com the ability to erase your phone when it's stolen or lost, which happend to me twice!, is I think really great!)
- Connectivity - better (DHD also has DLNA, HD2 has no output besides simple BT, 3.5" and USB)
- Web - better (Eventhough this is software related, android has full flash webbrowsing)

So overall I think DHD is better than the HD2.
Still I am going to wait to purchase a new phone and replace my HD2.
Why?
Several reasons:
Windows Phone 7 OS and the new HD7 could bring new developments ánd because I think soon we will see real major hardware updates:
- Processors will be 1,5 to 2Ghz instead of 1.
- Videoquality will be better. We need better mobile videochips for better gaming experience!
- Screens will be better. Leaks suggest 3D screens, Amoled already excists, Stronger/Unbreakable glass (forgot the name, but it's definately a must since all the "my phone dropped out of my hands on the floor and shattered my glass, repair will be many dollars" stories I've seen and experienced myself on my HD2)
- Memory will be better. Specially RAM/ROM/Internal Storage will be more and more.
- Interaction will be better. Hopefully interaction with other device like TV's with DLNA like DHD has already and interaction with other mobiles, even with other OS's will become possible.
- Battery(life) will be better. Hopefully better batteries and energy saving software will come, together with technology like phone charging wireless via airwaves.
- Gadgets will be better. Like TV watching on the phone (DVB-T ?) and micro-beamers like Microvisions PicoP.

How long it will take for these smartphone upgrades will be just a matter of time.
But for now, my HD2 (with Artemis ROM, stock ROM sucks!!!!) performs pretty well for what I do with it:
Fine camera.
Showing of WinMo games to my Iphone (Bwhooo!) friends.
Playing Music.
Use it as a Navigator with TT7.
Watch movies on the go in XviD format using TCPMP.
Some webbrowsing and social networking with like Facebook and Twitter.
Its my agenda, notepad, clock and alarm!
And of course what it's meant to do: calling and texting.

So, 1 to 2 years later,,,better job,,,more money,,,better phones, and I will (sadly) renew my HD2 with a new one. And as an HTC fan, it will probably be another HTC!

Thanks for reading.
A dutch Vodafone HTC HD2 Artemis ROM fan!

I still chuckle to myself when the iPhone came out without MMS, and then Apple did something revolutionary and put MMS into a software update, and the world was alight with joy and praise!
Yet I'd had MMS on my SonyEricsson T68i a clear 6 years prior!
this annoys me immensely and they are doing it again with that facetime BS, if i recall i could make a video call on my old SE w910i. and video calling was available back in 2003 across mobile networks! now apple come along with video calling only over wifi and its revolutionary WTF? apple is a fashion item now more than anything.

any way as for the HD2 id hold onto it if i still had mine now that its running android and more than likely a windows phone 7 build is on the way for it it seems to be the best handset, with free choice to os oh and there is a meego port comming to ! , if i can grab one cheap of ebay to go alongside my Desire HD i would.

I had a HD2 and loved it but the desire HD after using it for 3-4 weeks imo is much better I ran android on my HD2 and while it is good its not as good as the DHD the desire is just smoother and not 1 issue or reset with the DHD no lag been really impressed :)

I have both HD2 and a DHD - and regarding hardware i prefer the DHD.
But i still prefer the HD2 over all because of WinMo contra Android.
some one said in a previous that Andoride is more customize zable - i don't agree.
You can customize Winmo down to the smalleste detail.
Winmo 6.5.x is crap out of the box, but when you have customixed it to your likeing its just great.
But the greatest different is that all the great apps/widgets for Android costs money. You have to spend a considerable amount of monye on apps/widgets befor Android is the way i want it.
Co0kies HomeTab for WinMo is free, but apps like that costs money on Android.

Excellent Post. Windows 6.5.x is quite a good operating system, not out of box though..you have to install custom ROMs and sense mods to fully exploit its potential and not to mention excellent battery in WinMo, I've heard all android big screen android phones like DHD or EVO, etc just suck when it comes to battery life...you can barely stretch a day with moderate usage..

The main problem however is no new development happening in WinMo 6.5...all the applications are moving to Android and WM 6.5 is going to die its slow death :( . If not for applications, i'd still prefer running WM 6.5 in HD2
