I can't seem to get full desktop views of web sites on my 8.9. I've tried the about:debug settings tweak on the stock browser, made sure desktop is selected in the Dolphin HD settings - I still keep on defaulting to mobile sites in both browsers. Can't figure out what the issue is.

Anyone had this problem and/or know a fix?

Thanks!

Hi,

I have the 8.9 and was able to use the following with 100% success.

1. Open the Android Honeycomb browser on your tablet.

2. In the address bar, type: about:debug and press enter.

3. Now open the browser's settings by tapping the icon in the very top-right corner of your screen (it looks like four horizontal lines) and selecting "Settings" from the drop-down menu that appears.

4. On the left side of the screen, tap the section labeled "Debug."

5. On the right side of the screen, tap the item labeled "UAString," then select "Desktop."

6. Press the back button (in the very bottom-left corner of your screen) to exit the browser's settings.

7. In the browser's address bar, type: about:debug once more; this will disable debugging mode and return the browser to its normal state. [Optional] If you do this step you will need to redo this step every time to enable Desktop Browsing.

By the way, which version of the 8.9 do you have? I have the 7310, also known as the 16GB WIFI version.

Yes, I I've got the AT&T LTE model.
Currently, my stock browser user agent setting is set to desktop (via the about:debug trick) and the user agent text from the above link reads:

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_3; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.16 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0 Safari/533.16

Does this shed any light on my issue?

Thanks for the help!

Works fine here as well except that some sites still detect its android and force a mobile view.

Is there any way to make debug mode permanent?

As it is you have to enable debug mode any time the browser gets fully restarted.

Please post any site that still detect it as android when the user agent is changed to "Desktop"
