I'm coming from an hd2 and i regret it, only the CPU/gpu and the colurs/resolution are better. All other things were better on the hd2.
Maybe i buy a nexus prime when its out, but i would miss sense :)

I don't regret buying my Sensation at all, every phone has it's share of problems. The Amaze has screen bleeding and no wifi calling. After owning a 1st generation Galaxy S device and its cheap plastic casing and crappy gps left me never wanting another Samsung phone.

I've been in you position. But the looks and the feel of sensation made me buy it instead of the GS2. Right now im very happy with my sensation, could have waited for the XE, but this standard one is all good.

Every phone out there has its ups and downs, and of course you can learn to live with it.

Im not yet rooting and installing other roms though. I'll wait for 6 monts or when I get tired of this thing.

my sensation 4g was free from tmobile. i used my upgrade to get the g2x when it finally came back on the market and the phone ran great and really fast for a phone out the box but after a month came the rebooting. got 2 replacement phones one had really bad screen bleeding u can tell on the notification bar since it was black then the rebooting was even worst. 2nd one had major screen bleeding and a dead pixel then rebooting. finally tmobile said we have an option to give u a sensation 4g free of charge. they told me to only send the g2x without the battery and battery door so i did. i ended up getting the sensation 4g without the box and it came with blackberry headphones and a 2gb sd card which was a joke but i couldnt complain cause tmobile gave it to me free plus i got a 16gb sd card anyways and nice headphones that came from the galaxy s 4g. but even better i sold all my g2x accessories for 90 bucks out the door so it was a win win for me lmao.. this is why i wont leave tmobile cause there customer service kicks ass lol

I Only Got 4 Cons - the speaker (it really sucks on this phone. i can barley hear the damn phone ring with its turned up all the way.)
lack of 1gb ram - (only because most high end phones got 1gb and for some reason we didnt get it lol.)
no dedicated camera button - (which i miss from my old mt4g)
optical track pad - (miss it from my old mt4g as well.. made it easier to unlock and lock my old phone)

I don't regret buying the sensation. I had a desire before this and I tried the galaxy s2 before this for 2 days. I just didn't like the galaxy s2 enough to keep it. It was a nice phone I wouldnt mind it as my backup phone.

The sensation does have its issues but the pros out weigh the cons.

Issues with the sensation in my opinion:

Creaky battery door, bad battery life, not enough ram (should have 1gb like evo 3d), only comes with 8gb memory card (not big enough for a high end flag ship phone), 1gb of internal memory (not enough for apps in the long run needs 2gb).

Most of these issues can be fixed or have a work around. I still think the sensation is the best android on the market right now except Ofcourse the galaxy s2. It's just matter of preference between the two.

I don't regret it one bit.

I come from the G2x as well and while that phone is pretty awesome the glitches it had annoyed me beyond what I could bare. I got three replacements and then they said they could send me a Sensation instead and I have been very happy with it. Since I am an Android enthusiasts I went to tmobile the other day and played a little with the Amaze but I was not impressed.

I am planning to keep this phone for a while.

I regret it for one reason nobody else mentioned: The usb/charger-plug on the side of the phone. That's the most stupid thing I ever saw. Unfortunately I didn't see that in the store or I'd never have purchased it 3 months ago. Didn't look for that cause I couldn't even imagine someone would do smth like that. Can't use a decent car- or desktop-holder/charger. The only reason I have not switched it for a SGS2 is that I wait for the nexus prime. If that one has the charger at the bottom, it's a deal in 5 minutes.
The rest of the phone is OK, the looks are great, but the plug is a show-stopper for me.

I think the build quality is really bad compared to my motorola droid. That thing is soild as rock. And for the sensation, they advertised it as an unibody build. That's a complete lie. The back case is not part of the body. It feels like cheap plastic. The gap between the screen and casing is so large that I could fit my nails in. And it's also the major cause for dust getting into the screen. Two years of using my motorola droid, and not a single speck of dust got into the screen. The screen is huge and beautiful, but why is the white color, purple and not white?
I find Sense to be very beautiful and elegant, but it's fat and slow . Sense is so slow that you have to over clock the phone for it to run slowly. I am running Miui now. It's like day and night. Sensation finally feels like a dual core phone now.

1. The major construction of the back cover isn't plastic... it is actually metal alloy of some sort. I checked it with an ohm meter just to be sure :p

2. I think the official SENSE 3.0 ROM is plagued by their damn spyware slowing down the system... if HTC wasn't so busy snooping around in my phone, their ROM would actually work... but some tie wearing bean counter decided to "statistically analyze" my usage and screwed the pooch.

Stop collecting data on me and fix the damn ROM

On the other note... the phone is build well (save for a weak antenna)

I partially regret it... only because of the antenna... every other flaw is livable and fixable... just the antenna sucks .

When I bought it, first thing in my head was: "I made a big mistake". But then I discovered root. And about 2 weeks ago, I discovered ARHD and P3D. I don't regret buying Sensation anymore. But still, it could be better

Sadly there was no alternative when I was buying this phone... LCD is crap. Low viewing angles, ghosting when scrolling text..my old desire has better screen. Also unibody construction is pure lie. This phone is NOT unibody. Build materials are good but build quality is not. Waiting for Galaxy Nexus or Droid Razr...

The construction is crap,it makes sounds when i push on the corners, when i hold the phone in landscape my wifi is nearly zero,i liked the design of hd2 more, the hardware buttons, the poweron button is on the top and bad to reach, the 3,5 audio is on the top which is bad, there can be problems with the grounding of the screen because of pin at the back, there is a problem with dust under the screen reported by some users,my battery seems to be damaged since i bought it, i can see the single pixels on some screen or when i watch a video.
So tell me what is better on the sensation, except the speed and "real" drivers.

I have no regrets. I have had to return two of them but the third one was perfectly fine. I had no problem returning them cause it never costed me a dime and I was never without a phone. If I were in the market today I wouldnt get it though. I would go for the Amaze. Also I am not a fan of Samsungs. They feel too light and cheap for me. I like my phones to feel like a solid piece of hardware and Samsungs just dont.
i had actually owned a galaxy S for a year i recently got the sensation, i dropped my galaxy many times and i had no damage to it even though the phone falls on the ground so hard :p in my opinion samsung is good in build quality just bad with keeping up which is why i said goodbye to that phone and moved on

the screen resolution is a huge plus, camera is better, it is a newer phone with more support, ics is hopefully coming to our phone, etc. i don't have any of the problems you're describing, except for the wi-fi death grip. i can live with that, since i'm not going to constantly block the antenna location :) sensation was practically a free upgrade for me, and i don't regret it at all.

I really love it, just like al the other HTC phones I've had.
Sure, like any other phone, you are never completly satisfied.
But over all, i fucking love it.

I'm finding it incredibly difficult to decide between the Sensation and the GSII! I love the Sense UI but I'm quite concerned about the possibility of antenna weakness and possible loss of phone signal here at home.

Has anyone had phone signal problems, i.e going from a couple of bars to nothing?

I partially regret it, but only because SGS2 finally made it here to the US. Then again, the US doesn't get the i9100 Exynos version that kicked Pyramid's behind all over Europe, so who knows? :p

But back to the Sensation, I'm generally pretty happy with it. The antenna does seem a little weak, but I don't have random drops in signal like what you asked about. The antenna contacts between the phone and back cover are tiny. Why HTC decided to go with a two-piece antenna over a solid one, I'll never understand.

WiFi deathgrip is very real and it sucks, but I've adapted.

No dust under my screen because my case keeps the volume buttons all covered up.

Lag and random reboots were fixed by going custom kernel and ROM. although I did ditch Sense for Go Launcher EX. Feels less clunky and the bottom launcher buttons are actually useful for a change.

All in all I like my Sensation, but it could be better. We'll see what's out there when it's time to upgrade. :)

I also, like others partially regret it. First, the battery life is almost below average, with heavy use, it cant go on for more than 6 hours, although standby mode battery life is good (But who needs that, if you have this phone, you wanna play, right!).

Second, LCD quality is inferior when compared to my previous phone, the Galaxy SL i9003. It also had SLCD but with great viewing angles and no distortion of text while scrolling.

Third, it doesn't support Video calls natively over UMTS network (Not data calls). Data charges are still high in my country and video calls are cheap comparatively. THis is a major let down for me personally. I stay away from home and use to call my family using video call from office. I cannot use wifi calls there as it is not allowed.

Other than these three, i am very much satisfied with my choice. Samsung is a bad company when it comes to supporting their products. I never have seen a service center or customer service response so pathetic. In fact, HTC customer care is quiet helping atleast in my country. Otherwise, I would have gone for Galaxy S2. I dont have issues with its build quality, but i cannot put my hard earned money in hands of a careless company with no customer focus.
