It's not noticeable the background is dark or black, but when I used the backlight bleed test, I can clearly see distortion of the back light on the mid- left side of my screen, about an inch from the edge. You can't see it unless you apply pressure. I don't need to press hard; even lightly doing a single finger scroll gesture has it appear. I think I'll be bringing it for an exchange though; I bought my Note 8.0 at BestBuy.

Not sure if you're seeing backlight bleed or some other form of distortion, but take a look at my thread for reports on backlight bleed:

Comparing to my note 2 which is full dark at every brightness level, this is definitely not the same story with my note 8. Acceptable to watch movies as the brightness is reduced when the room is dark. But it is there

So you are going to return your tablet for a "problem" that you can only see when you run a specific app that renders your screen totally black? Does this show up in anything else?

I can see it whenever I am using my tablet at high brightness in the dark with any app. The bleed test app just lets me see it as clearly as possible but it's quite visible when the entire screen is dark colors. It begins to bother me when I'm drawing on Sketchbook with dark backgrounds.

Sorry, your first 3 words are: "it's not noticeable" so you can see where my skepticism comes from.
