Thanks for your contribution, sytanek. The modified app works although it sometimes fails to start from the Simple TV Launcher menu. In those instances, the only way to load it is to access the operating system's apps menu to open it. I think that bug was there even with the release from earlier in the thread and it's not surprising to see glitches with software that wasn't intended for Android TV anyway.

I tried looking at logcat to see if i could see what activity pressing the menu button is calling, to try and hack at it, but unfortunately I don't see any events from pressing it. Tried calling the FlyInMenuActivity on Launch, but it doesn't appear to care for that. I have 0 experience with modifying / programming android apps, so this is probably as far as I can take it myself.

Luckily I haven't had any glitches with it, but I do make sure to back out when I am done using it, not just hitting the home button on the remote.

Accessing Networks from TV Go

Hi Sytanek

Would it be possible to post apk for accessing 'Networks' menu item just like 'Live' menu item? That would let us access on demand content from all Networks.

.....actually managed to build one myself.

Thank a bunch,
Vijay

How to sign-in xfinity app?

Gabby It was actually really easy. Decompiled the apk, Edited the "\smali\com\xfinity\playerlib\view\launch\PlayerLaunchStrategy.smali" file. Replaced the two calls to the /featured/FeaturedActivity with /browseprograms/LiveStreamsActivity. Then recompiled and signed. (I did have to use the apk that you posted as a basepoint).
Hi

I used the file you uploaded and it installed perfectly. For some reason I cannot type my xfinity username or password to login. Is the remote not supposed to work with that app OR I need a bluetooth mouse?

PS: I bought the nexus player for only this app. I have a firestick (running Kodi) and chromecast that both work perfectly!!

App no longer works in lollirock 3.0. Was working fine in lollirock 2.1. When you try to select channel, it goes back to main menu. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks!

Having the same issue. The app loads, acquires licence, buffers and then crashes back to tvgo home screen.

You will have to use droidmote, a bluetooth or usb keyboard, etc.

I have not yet updated my nexus player(s) to the M, I had read about several apps having issues, and at the moment can't afford to try. I am guessing we will need an updated TV Go App. I might be able to grab the latest in the next couple days and patch it up.

I am using a stock nexus player. When my nexus player was running lollipop 5.1.1 everything ran fine, but it automatically updated to marshmallow 6.0 this afternoon and the app (which I loved using) stopped working. Now when I pick a channel, it shows on demand and goes back to the main menus without viewing the channel picked.
I actually got a brand new Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo and was exciting to use with the nexus player and this is what I get when I started using it :(

Please fix whenever you get a chance and I really appreciate the hard work that you put in for us.

Ok, it doesn't appear that the issue is that version of the App vs Android M, because it still runs fine on my Nexus 6. It has to be something specific to the Nexus Player / AndroidTV. I went ahead and grabbed the latest version and modified it, but I am at work and don't have a nexus player here to test on. Additionally, even at home I do not plan on running M on my players, until Football season is over, Sorry. Feel free to give it a shot and let me know if it works at all. This has the x86 folder removed, and the Default Page patched to live.

Edit: Removed Download as we verified it does not resolve the issue. Additional Information on this, it appears Comcast is aware that this app has the same issue on quite a few devices. The Media Player that comcast uses is not their own, they use the upLynk player. It appears that Comcast has been waiting on an updated version of the player, for quite some time, that improves compatibility with android devices. All of which exhibit the same behavior we see. Will this fix the issue for certain? quite possibly not, but besides rolling back to 5.1.1, it appears to be the only hope we have.

Thanks for checking. Comcast is notoriously terrible about this kind of thing. Been waiting for an update for the app for the Samsung Tab S only to be told for 8 months the update will be out next week. Even though theres already a working APK you can sideload.

Well looks like I found the issue. In Android 6.0 there is a Modify System Settings permission. This is in a different location than the three default permissions it asks for on install. Android TV does not appear to have the same thing. From doing a logcat on my nexus 6 on M, and my nexus player on M, the difference is the player is getting lots of permission denied's before the app crashes.

I didn't want this M update, but it was pushed an installed without my permission. I was happy with 5.1.1. I understand M has added features, but I really don't care for them. All I want is a device that runs Kodi, Comcast To Go app and is able to cast my phone screen. It was perfect until the M update was installed.

I hope the issue with 6.0 is resolved soon. Right now the only way I can get xfinity live TV working is by opening it on my desktop in Chrome browser then casting it to my nexus player. It's an annoying work around, but all I have right now

Unfortunately I am not making any headway on 6.0, Only option at the moment is to roll back to 5.1.1

v2.4.5.026 of the Xfinity TV Go app was released a couple of days ago on Google Play. The changelog is as follows:

3rd party software fix to allow Tab S users to download. Other bug fixes.

The sideloaded app opens and does not crash on the Nexus Player with Android 6.0 but the 3 dots menu still isn't accessible which means that only on demand content can be played. @sytanek, can you modify the latest APK to default to the live channels page as you did with the previous version?

New Test

Alright, here is the modified version of the most recent one. I did not remove the libx86 folder, as I am hoping that this update actually resolved that issue. The only change to this is defaulting to the live TV page.

Please let me know if this works for you, and what version you are running. (5.1.1,6.0,Lollirock, etc.)
