[Q] Does ATT know what phone I am useing?

Two months ago I filed an insurance claim for a lost Captivate. Yesterday the phone was found. My question is this, if I let my son use the phone is there any way ATT would know? He has a nonsmart phone now, and I would add a data plan to it.

Yes the minute u pop an att sim into the captivate, att will know..but all is well if there is a smartphone data plan on that sim

So assuming u get a smartphone data plan for your son, he should be good to go...

You filed insurance...meaning you paid for the one that was "stolen" it's yours to do with what you want if it's recovered. AT&T got their $125 plus the monthly insurance premium.

so yeah as long a as you add a smart phone data plan you should be cool.

Every cellular company know what phone you are using they get all the info on there system make model every damn possible thing.
