I had the TF201 (Transformer Prime) when it was launched and although it was fast and with good battery life there were some major flaws ending in me returning the device. Does the TF701t suffer from any of the below problems that the TF201 had?

  • GPS practically non-existent
  • Wifi working only with strong signals
  • Freezes, especially when browsing
  • SD-card can't be inserted completely and is easy to lose
I'm thinking of buying this over the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 but am not sure if I really want to give Asus another try after the TF201 disaster.

Cheers

The TF701 has none of these problems.
In fact it is one of the fastest tablets out atm, there is just the keyboard disconnect problem to solve by Asus.

I have owned the 101, the700 and the 701. The 701is by far the best of the three. Dock problems are the fly in the ointment but, for me, the the dock and tablet have worked very well. Mine does occasionally disconect but that is the only problem I have had.

I'm about to get the TF701T myself. I've had the Prime since it launched and it is time to upgrade. From everything I've read and seen in reviews, none of the issues the plague Prime affect the 701 and that is very good. Asus has even addressed the I/O issue from the older models. I've been waiting to see if a new Nexus 10 is going to be released but nothing has been officially announced and the Asus tablets are the nearest thing to stock one can get.

Although there's dock issues and glass fitting issue or whatnot with the TF701, I'm still overall very happy with it because it fixed all these problems you mentioned, GPS and Wifi in particular are MUCH better and even perform better than even iPad 3. The extra RAM also makes it much easier to multitask, browsing is also much smoother. SD card has no accident of falling out so far due to the improved design of the body/slot.:good:

In my opinion, the TF701t has none of the problems you mentioned. The lag when browsing and wifi signal strength issues are practically non-existent. However, the dock has the connection problems which have been well described on this site, and I have experienced minor creaking in the tablet when applying torque to it. By this, I mean when I press down on one corner and push up on the diagonal corner from the other side, there is a slight sound. I have not personally experienced a screen lifting issue in conjunction with this sound. If the dock worked as intended, I would have very little to complain about this device.
