I visited the link 'HERE' you told me, downloaded SeTool software.zip, extracted the archive, and ran Setool2g.exe.
But the error 'SETOOL2 SMARTCARD NOT FOUND' dialog appears and can't proceed.
Is anything insufficient ?

My phone is ST18a and seems to be bootloader unlocked.('fastboot devices ' says CB***** fastboot)

I've updated to 2.3.4 with SEUS, and never can be rooted...

can anyone help me with that, i want to unlock boot loader and it dosent work for me, phone is sim free and its says that i can ulock bootloader , iwere on SE site for unlock did all steps wich are there but nothhing, in my deviace manager say u have latest boot loader interface but dosent work , where is a problem?

You need to show some logs of some sort.
So you you get into fastboot mode?

yes i get into fastboot mode , blue light was on, i replace android win usb , tha instal driver from there but its say u have latest version but dosent work properly , and i try it allready few time uninstal ,restart pc but still same problem, have no idea wheres the problem

Sorry I cannot give support for the official unlocking method as I do not know.
I unlocked my phone myself and therefore have never needed to use that site.

I cant unlock my bootloader,i am trying to unlock bootloader with Test Point (S1 TOOL) and it says this:

Sudenly I've found an alternative way of unlocking bootloader. It was found on Russian 4pda forum in XPERIA neo section (here's the link if you can understand Russian). I just googled a bit and here we are

This method keeps DRM keys (not sure about the warranty, so follow these instructions on your own risk). Credits go to the_laser.

All we need is:

• find short piece of wire & download s1tool software (attached)
• Locate test point connector and ground battery connector on your sk17 (look at the picture below - thanks ooxtcoo for the picture)
  
  
• instructions from here (post #4; just mention that sk17 is supported now):

That's all. Now you can flash your own kernels or do anything you want with unlocked bootloader. If your phone won't boot flash it via FlashTool.

P.S. I tried both lock and unlock. Works great.

Can this way really be used to unlock a sk17i if the service menu says "unlock bootloader allowed:no"?
Apparently expeacer could unlock his sk17i through this method. See here and the following posts by him.

It is posible to root phone without unlocking bootloader but you must downgrade firmware to version below 0.62.
Rooting version below 0.62 :

Then you can root any version above 0.62 including 0.62 and ICS :

But I'd like to install a completely fresh version of ICS which isn't out yet for my SI.

These are the steps to get a clean & rooted ICS build on my locked sk17i:

• factory reset my current rooted .58 build
• re-root it
• go on with step III from here.
• instead of flashing the the .ftf from the above thread I flash the Generic WORLD .ftf from here.
• I follow the remaining steps
  

What languages does the World ftf contain? I'd like to have the German dictionary.

This will work on ST15i too?
I have a rooted .42 rom on my phone, and I can't unlock my bootloader.
If it is possible to do it, then I will do it tomorrow
