In a time crunch, please help! So, my company is in need of portable PDF readers and they are doing away with text books. I am in need of a dumbed down version of a tablet. i.e. A tablet WITHOUT WiFi, Apps, browser or anything "fun" the students could "play" instead of reading the preloaded PDF files my company will install on the devices.
So I am thinking a nook Color with a custom ROM. Maybe a nook Simple Touch with a custom ROM? Anyway, the company is even considering Kindle fire. (no idea why, its not very customizable) Either way, its my decision and I need YOUR help :D

Needs: 1) PDF reader without anything else on the device. 2) The ability to preload PDFs, I do not want to have to glue the Micro SD cards into the machines. 3) Price is not too much off an issue, although the more money I can save the better.

If all you want is a device that will allow users to read PDF files, without frills such as memor cards, internet, games/apps,etc, why not go for a dedicated ebook reader such as a Kindle - compared to tablets, they seem to be as cheap as chips, and they read PDFs.
