A friend of mine works at Motorola. So I was invited to participate their Friends&Family Moto X maker beta promotion. I just designed my phone. Indeed the phone/device is free after receiving $200 from Motorola. But the website forced me to pay $380 for AT&T deposit fee, while I clearly clicked "existing AT&T customer". Why the charge? How to remove that? Also, does anybody know if I just simply use AT&T prepaid card once I get the phone? I'd like to keep my current sim-card in my N4.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Did you actually pay the $380 deposit before asking either Motorola or at&t just wtf was going on? Might have to do with the fact you're on prepaid...

Your sim card will work fine, but you'll have to trim it first. The Moto X uses a nano SIM from what I understand.

Moto X uses a nano sim so if the prepaid card you're putting in is that size, it should work. Also is there anyway you can show me the website or the Moto X maker beta so I can know what exactly your talking about? I'm very interested in participating in the beta but I don't know anyone that works for Motorola.

Sorry for the late reply guys. And thank you for your input.

The program was introduced by this friend of mine who works at Motorola. When I signed up the program, I had to list his name as my sponsor and promise not to send the link to the public.

I do like some features that come with this phone, my name is on the phone, touchless control. But I honestly think it does not worth $380 AT&T deposit fee.
