I have a g2x right now and the 14 day buyer's remorse period is almost over. I'm noticing lag on the g2x when scrolling through the application drawer, but that's my only qualm. Would you guys recommend returning it and waiting for the Sensation? What are the chances of CM7 reaching the sensation (if they lock the bootloader)? Thanks.

The GSII is already available in the UK, the Sensation is nowhere to be found
What makes you think that the Sensation will be available before the SGS2 in the US ?

Btw many peeps that lives in the US are getting the device shipped from UK...

The sg2 official US release will probably come later than the sensation. Every carrier will pretty much bastardize the sg2 from the original one in the UK since. The carriers will take things out to make sure it doesn't beat their flagship phone. Only one that reach the FCC was at&t.

i'm going through the same thing. i picked up my g2x the day it was available for sale from the store. i normally never buy something on release day but since i had lost my nexus one for which i had for 1.5 years at work and no one returned it, i needed a phone.

tuesday is going to make my 14th remorse day. i have already decided that i am going to return the phone and wait for the sensation. it's just that when i look of pictures of the sensation it just looks like a sexy phone. i know the bootloader will be locked, i know that it may have battery issues because it runs sense (never had a sense phone before, always had stock android), i guess i just want to try something different from before but still familiar. maybe i am just partial to htc since my first android phone the original mytouch was an htc.

i figure since i keep thinking about the sensation i might as well wait for it. i thought once i got the g2x the thoughts about the sensation would subside, but it has not. the lg g2x is a nice phone for which i will give it that minus the few little quirks i noticed. i have some back light bleeding at the top corners. i'm bothered by the fact of wasn't the lg optimus 2x out before the g2x got released in the US, so all these backlight bleeding issues should be very minimal, it should be expected for there to be some backlight bleed with an lcd display. the other small quirk i noticed is sometimes when you press the power button to wake up the phone you see a quick glimpse of the screen you had up prior before the lockscreen appears. when i had my nexus one that never happened. i don't know if that is due to the some of the stuff t-mobile added to the phone or any small customizations lg may have put in the sourcecode.

so i am going to return my phone either tomorrow or tuesday and use a feature phone until the sensation comes out. may even come back to the g2x if the sensation is not all it is cracked up to be, i guess i just have to compare the two in person to make an informed decision.

i know i probably could hold onto the g2x and then sell it when the sensation comes out, but i signed up for that unlimited everything plan to get the g2x at a discount didn't feel like paying the 499.99 + tax, so i might as well go back to my even more plus plan for the time being.

the way things are going the sensation should be released in june (rumor is june 8th), since now there is talk about the htc doubleshot phone which is supposed to be a mytouch slide 4g being released in july. i know you can't release the mytouch slide 4g before the sensation when the buzz about the sensation/pyramid has been going on since the beginning of the year.

@touness:

The Sensation is a T-Mobile exclusive, whereas the SGS2 will most likely be released on all 4 major carriers. As such, Samsung has to build four different versions of the phone for each carrier. Naturally, four different models (SGS2)will take longer to release than one model (HTC Sensation).

One other thing that points toward an imminent release of the Sensation is that T-Mobile USA has already set up a HTC Sensation section on their forum. It's been active for a couple of weeks. Based on T-Mobile's past actions, this is a sign that the phone is just a few weeks away from release.

While my Nexus One keeps on going, I'm going to wait at least until autumn before I decide. Both phones might have better prices by then. I'm leaning towards the htc, I really like the 'thin soap-bar' design of the Nexus One, the 'flat slab' of the S II doesn't appeals to me. Also, it as slightly bigger battery, I'm always paranoid of running out of batteries.
But Samsungs AMOLED screen is indeed gorgeous. And the S II has already been rooted.

I replaced my G2 with a G2X and am getting a Sensation when it launches. It's pretty clear LG doesn't no crap about s/w. The O2X was buggy when released and the G2X is worse. Unless a miracle occurs I can't see how LG is going to right all the wrongs they've committed with the Gingerbread release that's coming. I spend more time roaming than I do on my home network so modding is out because it has always screwed up my ability to register on foreign networks. The theory of a "pure Google" phone is great for speed, simplicity, and customization. The G2 was truly close to being a "Google experience" phone while the G2X is just LG's ****ty software with the UI removed and a bunch of T-Mobile bloatware embedded in the OS. So, back to Sense (I had a HD2) it is. :)

The G2 is running what is essentially HTC sense with a stock android theme.

Similar experience with the G2x having used a Nexus One for 16 months. It's hardly AOSP or vanilla FroYo on that phone. Quadgate was reason enough to return it, but poor battery life, shady backlight bleeding, and a general feeling of deception were all ammunition.

The Sensation sounds very much like a Nexus Two to me, and I like the sound of that. I've never used Sense on a phone, but I think 3.0 might be something I'd live with.

Still need to see it compared to the SGSII though.

i tried a sense 3 mod last night and boy, is it pretty (the mod ran like a dog so i had to uninstall it) the SGII is just over $800 in Australia, though, and if the Sensation comes out at the same price, i will have to get the Nexus S :(

I had a G2x and returned it today. I think I am going to wait for the Sensation. I just saw in one of the threads on the G2x board that the Sensation is scheduled to be released June 8th.

The version of the Sensation we'll get in North America with AWS frequencies probably won't work on 3G in Australia, and will be priced at $500USD. The version of the SGSII and Sensation you'll have to get might be available more reasonably through a Canadian carrier, though I don't have quick access to a currency calculator to see if that improves things much.

Development is picking up in the G2X forum you might want to think twice. That locked bootloader in the sensation might be a dealbreaker for alot of people who changes roms alot. Ill play the backfield with my G2X and see if its cracked.

i have the g2x right now, and given the crashes, wifi problems and lcd bleeding i have experienced on several exchanged devices.... i am going to return it and wait for the sensation.

i am sure that the bootloader will be unlocked at some point, and even still... i would rather have a locked phone that works than a truly open one that doesn't.
