The update has come today and synchronization is back.

What update? Where did you get it? I just updated again this morning and still get the same message to set Outlook to default mail server...
I cannot understand how my S3 worked no problem with Kies and then the S4, also worked no problem till the forced update to kies 3. With all the people using and needing to sync with Outlook, how can a company as big and rich as Samsung, Microsoft or Google (not sure who is to blame) put out a product that is not compatible with Outlook.

NOT TRUE! Samsung Support confirms that the S4 upgrade to 4.3 will not sync with outlook using Kies 3. Don't by an apologist for Samsung. They simply have produced 2nd rate software!

Not buying it. Had a Samsung s3 about 2 years ago, upgraded to s4 about 1 month ago. Have had no problems with Kies, other than it is a lousy sync program, tull I was forced to upgrade to Kies 3. I need ti sync my phone at least every 2nd day, but now can't. They rushed to put oit a program knowing full well it does not work. There arw too many people using and needing to sync to Outlook, for them to have done this. Shows they do not care. Too bad I hate iPhones. But now will start considering them again, when the 6 comes out with larger screen.

I used the Contact Manager in Kies to enter and update my contacts with pics and such. It was much easier to sit at the computer add or modify it and then plug the GS4 into the PC and send it off to the phone, and then saved a copy to the PC. Now the contact manager is gone in Kies 3 and I can't go back to v2 etiher because of 4.3, this really sucks. I actually thought it was a great tool that I came to relie on, now I've got contacts saved on my PC that I can't use or send to a phone anymore.

KIES 3 and outlook Sync

Terrible situation. I'm an attorney and I need to carry an updated Calendar with me to court. Won't sync and I cannot roll back to an earlier version of my operating system. Samsung Support essentially told me TOO BAD! Buy another phone. This is the last Samsung phone I will buy. I recommend that everyone keep this in mind the next time you buy a phone.

Following upgrade to 4.3 and failure to sync with my outlook after several sorties into the ridiculous support email system, they (Samsung support) informed me that I would need to upgrade my version of outlook to 2007. Nice..... I use 2003 at home and at work so its unlikely to change.

So I guess it's an even more expensive upgrade for me .... but still no guarantee of success! they need to fix it! are there any other office suites that will sync calendars and outlook type stuff with 4.3 / KIes?

Same problem with me, Kies 3 will not sync outlook

Checked everything I could, Outlook IS my default mail client, took the battery out, uninstalled Kies 3, re-installed....No luck!

Spoke to Samsung, 3 times, every time a different answer. And NONE of the answers fixed the issue.

Does anyone have the same issue, or is your Outlook with Kies 3 working fine?

My note is Android 4.3

Hi there I seem to have the exact same problem with my Galaxy S3. I wish I had never upgraded the firmware because that forced me to upgrade Kies to V3 before the upgrades everything worked beautifully :(

Outlook Contacts Sync

Although I do not use Kies and have a GT-N7100 Note 2, I also started having problems syncing all my Outlook address book after upgrade to Android 4.3 (XXUEMK9). The solution was to remove and reinstate all my contacts on the PC. Only the most recent ones were being synced. I suspect that one contact got "stuck" and once that was removed, the rest went through. I used MyPhoneExplorer (MPE) to identify that the problem was on my PC with one of the contacts as MPE could only see the most recently updated contacts. Creating a new Contacts folder in Outlook was easy - as was moving all of them out and back. After that everything synced OK.
I use the Android Outlook App to sync Contacts. I turn off mail and calendar sync and it works well without using much battery. I prefer AquaMail for multiple email accounts.
In Android 4.3, this shows up as an Outlook.com account. I tried using Microsoft Exchange Activesync account but it seemed to use more battery however your usage may vary.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Tom

Same issue with a Galaxy S 3 updated to Android 4.3.
I reinstalled an old Kies 2.5.2.13021_10 that I keep on my disk and it syncs like a charm, even being Win7 64 bits and Outlook2010. Obviously I don't accept the update it proposes. The only drawback is that is is english (I am a Spanish user).
I keep also installed Kies 3 to be aware of a new version resolving the issues.

FYI I tried the above with my S4 (model SGH-I337M, Android 4.3), Kies 2.5.2 would not recognize my device.

I finally got it to connect and sync, but it is painfully slow and causes Outlook to not respond, just wait a while until it loads the contacts and asks for Outlook permission.

I think I'll go back to myphoneexplorer

Thanks for ray of hope! Just before New Year's I was able to connect & sync (Galaxy S4 Verizon, Outlook 2010). Unfortunately, the sync created multiples of recurring events (think birthdays and anniversaries) and the result was a bit messy. However, I was just thankful to have the calendar up to date!
I tried to sync again today and was not successful with either the phone or my new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition). Kies took over 1 minute to recognize the phone and then spent 5 more minutes before giving an error message that said 'Unknown Error' and stopped responding.
Kies does not recognize the Note at all.
If this is user error, advice would be appreciated. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Kies software, turned off the firewall and virus protection, rebooted, cleared cache, etc. without success on my Win 7 laptop.
Thanks for any help.

Hi! After upgrading my S4 to 4.3, I tried to sync it with my Outlook PIM, only to receive the instruction to install Kies 3, since 2.6 doesn´t support 4.3. After connecting my phone I had the sad surprise: no Outlook sync tab!!! Since I use my phone to work, this became an extremelly anoying issue.

After trying to find any possibility of workaround and/or other alternatives, with little practical success, I came to the conclusion a thread focused in discussing these issues would only add to those (like me) who want to use their S4 PIM capabilities together with Outlook, Notes and other similar applications.

    These are the questions:
    - What about Kies 3 - do anyone knows if they are planning to include Outlook sync again?
    - What are the alternatives to obtain a two way sync between S4 and Outlook (and others)?
    - What is the alternative to those who use other personal e-mail accounts than Gmail or Outlook/Hotmail to sync PIM through Gmail and/or Outlook?
    - What are the apps that solve the whole problem? (most of them doesn´t sync calendar, for instance...)?
    - Is Google Apps an alternative?

I was wondering if we could share experiences in order to make this thread a repository for this.

No Outlook sync for Kies 3?

    I love surprises too.

I add my voice to the questions above. How can Samsung release Kies 3 without Outlook sync capability? My phone updated automatically to 4.3, then I was forced to download Kies 3, being told Kies 2.6 would no longer work under 4.3.

This is more than a nuisance. Is Samsung trying to get me to use something other than their product?

Upgraded to 4.3 and now no sync :(

Myself in the same situation, I got my phone not booting up and struck with 'Logo'. Giving to the support centre they delivered back the phone with with a software upgrade which is Androd 4.3, saying that solved the problem :)

Now I have my contacts, calendar, tasks and notes in Outlook and no clue how do I get back as the Kies 3 is not having any sync option and 2.6 says my device not supported :crying:

Let me know if anyone sees a workaround on this.

    This is CRAP!

I had read somewhere that android was going to stop allowing people to sync with Outlook. I dont know if that is what is going on here or if it is just Samsung's Kies software. I had to go months without syncing when I upgraded my Office to 2013. Now it looks like I not only cannot sync, but there isnt even an option to sync.

ARGH! I am going to have to switch to an iPhone and I hate Apple devices.

I don't know who is doing this and I don't care. Samsung, Google/Android, or Microsoft - get your sh*t together! It is only the consumer that is suffering here. Do not force me to pick between my Outlook and my Android, cause Outlook will win EVERY TIME! I don't want gmail and I don't like being forced into using it.

    Lies 3.0?

I agree Samsung better get its act together, because there are some samsungnites which will drop the Galaxys forst, before dropping Outlook. If Samsung continue to be first in line than they better not chnage their formulation, because as of right now it suXX!!!. Has anyone read or seen any posts on this issue in behafl of Samsung tech support or their public relations office?
