Hi guys anyone have any luck pairing the 7" hdx with any bluetooth controllers to use for games and emulators? i have searched online and all that i can see is that the fire tv controller can be used, but since it uses bluetooth is it possible for any bluetooth controllers ie. ps3/nyko gamepad to sync and be used to play games? thanks.

I'm running the HDX Nexus 1.4 ROM right now and have tried using the Sixaxis Controller app on the Play Store to get the PS3 controller working and have failed so far. I have been meaning to post here to see if anyone else has gotten it to work. Not sure if it is a kernel level issue or if it is with the ROM. I also have an iControlpad I have used in the past with iPhones and other computers that is bluetooth and should work just fine, but haven't tested it just yet.

I have tried to pair ps3 controllers under stock rooted before with Sixaxis and couldn't get it working, could be something in the bluetooth stack preventing it from pairing but never got as far as investigating why...

Thanks for the reply guys. Yea i am also wondering why the ps3 controllers will not sync. I have not tried other pads since they might not pair and will be just a waste of money. Hopefully someone had some success with some Nyko gamepads/IPEGA pads since those are also bluetooth controllers that has some favorable reviews online.

Hi I've also tried the PS3 Controller app but I can tell you this controller from Gamestop works. Google "Tablet Wireless Game Controller V2" it selling for $15 and works well enough I'm sure there are better ones though. The Moga Pocket works (Tried it on stock) but, it didn't fit my needs. I've used it under stock and Nexus 1.3 I hope that helps :) I forgot to add mine is the Wifi 8.9 HDX

Yeah its currently impossible to get the PS3 controller working becuase of the kernel but other controllers like my MOGA Pro Power work perfectly fine. I have using it to play several different emulators. My only issue is that ePSXe doesn't have any audio playback on the Kindle Fire HDX

I may need to pick one of these up. I want it for emulators and Limelight.

Has anyone been able to use a controller with Limelight? It's the app that allows you to stream games like the NVidia Shield. Same tech, reverse engineered.

I tried Nyko with my HDX8.9 and it works with joystick center in google play. But the gamepad itself is not really high quality.

Finally got around to picking up this controller. It's working great. I've tested it with emulators as well as with the Limelight app streaming from my PC. I am using the Nexus ROM.

I can second this. I bought the gamestop branded controller, however mine is a version 1. It's (or was, not sure anymore) on sale for $9.99, I originally bought it to use with my phone over a year ago. I recently found out last week that it works with my HDX 7 3rd gen. Mine is stock, non rooted, and on the latest update. I've played ROMS on it with mugen n64 plus ROM emulator app. Works great after you assign the buttons you want to use within the app.

One of the best $10 I spent in my life.
