Hi guys!
I am thinking of buying a DHD after being extremely happy with my Desire. However, one thing that bothered me with my Desire was that it's screen isn't made of Gorilla Glass(unless I am missing something).I didn't like the fact that I had to use a screen protector and had to be careful at all times. So do we know anything about it?
Thanks! :)

Gorilla glass doesnt have any conection with scratching. The gorilla glass is good only when you drop your phone from 1,5meters and it wont brake, the regular TFT probably should brake...but both glass are scratch resistant ;)

I've seen some of the tests they did on Gorilla glass displays. They stabbed the screen with biro pens to show how much more resistant the glass is compared to other capacitive displays using your standard scratch resistant glass. Either way I'm pretty sure the HTC Hero I have doesn't use GGlass and I've never had to use a screen protector and 18 months later the screen is a little greasy right now but NO scratches or blemishes from use. Hope this will put your mind at ease.

The Gorilla Glass on the SGS is impresive, no scratch even efter my cat played with it :D The back cover and the home button suffered from the claws and teeth of the mighty beast but the screen is intact :) i hope HTC will use it for Desire HD.

To thoroughly test the SGS place catnip inside the cover of the phone and irritate said moggie. STRESS testing, even if it's a bit unorthodox :p

The gorilla glass on the Dell Streak is rubbish, got loads of scratches on it, and that is with being very careful (ie not putting phone in same pocket as keys)

It certainly is... So far my SGS has suffered a rapid slide across a kitchen work surface before finally ending up on a stone floor & a leap out of the front window of my 4x4 as I turned hard onto my drive (I must learn to stop putting my phone on the dash as this is the second phone that has had this unexpected flight)

Your smoking some bad stuff! I've used a dell streak and the screen is literally unscratchable. I tried a key and a quarter and there was not a single scratch on there. So apparently you haven't used a streak before you lying sack of $h!t

After this post, The XDA app probably forced closed from my froyo lacking Vibrant:D

Your test should prove the quality of the screen, guess I should stop stressing the cat

Jesus dude!I would have had a heart attack and a complete brain ****-up after that! You must have some tough nuts enduring that! :p
And how did the phone do?Did it survive the test? And if yes,in how many pieces? :p

When I did it on the first phone (the car window) all that happened was it scratched the back of the case (HTC HD2 ~ also has Gorilla Glass).
The second time I did it with the SGS it laughed back at me..... Not a mark on either the case nor glass.

The kitchen floor it treated like a heavyweight boxer meets flyweight... only the flyweight bounced all over the canvas and evaded any form of scrapes. :)

Well what do you know, you learn something new even after all this time.
I could have sworn it had the Gorilla... Well one things for certain it's certainly tough...... or it had an EXTREMELY LUCKY ESCAPE!

One thing's for certain both the HD2 & SGS have used up quite a few lives and if they were cats they'd be staying indoors a lot more. :D

Then what is this?????
If that's not gorilla glass, what will gorilla glass endure?Oh my dog... :p
For the 1000th time...gorilla glass doesnt have any conection with scracthproof or similar. The main point of gorilla glass is that is shochproof, it doesnt brake when it falls from your hand on the floor!
