So frustrating that USB disk mode has been removed by Google. Just downright disrespectful to then choose a protocol that is poorly supported on the very platform they are leveraging!

Anyway, end of rant ;) Has anyone got MTP working on Ubuntu 12.10? I'm beating my head against it with absolutely no success. mtp-detect finds my Note 2 and gives the IDs, but no matter what I put in the udev 99-android.rules it just won't connect.

I know there are alternatives like ftp server, DroidSSH and Samba server, but these are really slow - typically 1.2MB/sec, which is just too slow for video files.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Use 51 instead of 99

Believe me, I've tried it. Absolutely nothing will get this working with Ubuntu 12.10. I haven't seen anyone get this to work.

The above UMS mode switch solves the problem anyway.

Theoretically it shouldn't work cuz it is related to mounting. Note 2 doesn't mount. It enables file transfer through mtp and usb debugging.
Mtp+usb debugging not equal to mounting.
