Hi there
My Captivate was running on 2.1 Eclair, i updated it through kies mini to 2.3 GB. then i rooted/installed CW recovery and then Successfully Flashed ICS_4.0.3_MR1-RC4.2_captivate. one day i decided to try another rom. I tried the same recovery method but it didn't flash. i tried 2 different roms but all in vain ! i got error just after few seconds and it was something like "sd card not found error 7"
please help me what to do??

successfully flashed stock GB. but now market doesn't allow me to sign in, it says "can't establish a reliable connection to the server. this could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services" i tried many times with different time intervals. what to Do?

Check your data connection - WiFi settings for local connection and APN for cellular network.
Do you want to stay on GB or you want to upgrade to JB? You don't need the market in GB for upgrading process.

Ok i figured out a way to LOG IN to google play. I factory reset my cappy and then it allowed me to sign in. ok fine now i'm having a new ISSUE :( . My Root/cw recovery all gone as i flashed STOCK GB. i tried rooting my phone the same way i did before (kk4 easy root), sadly it didn't work this time, Device status doesn't show "DEVICE" as it should according to Instructions, it shows "UNKNOWN", but still i tried with no success whatsoever !
super one click didn't work for me before and it doesn't work now !
what should i do now ?

Corn Kernel + Heimdall installer package is included in the guide. It will give you CWM and root, if you need it. No root needed to upgrade the phone to JB. Custom JB ROMs come with CWM and root. Flash CM10.1.3 Stable as your first JB. Follow the instructions. You need to flash JB twice when coming from stock GB, first to repartition, second time to install the ROM.

Thank you.. thank you for giving your precious time ;) . here is the thingy, my stock GB Rom is not giving me trouble at all(Theoretically), previous ICS Rom wasn't good at all.. few features and apps kept on Force closing (hate that the most) and became laggy. so i've decided to stay with Stock Rom for a while :) Want to ask you one more thing, My Previous Phone (Q mobile a local made) entertained me with a download speed of upto 400KBPS over wifi .. (Yes my internet is slow..just 2 Mb connection) but this cappy downloads @ no more than 100KBPS (Most of the time only 50kbps and often freezes) there is nothing wrong with my internet connection as i get same old speed on my laptop as i used to
can you please explain to me why is this and what could be the Remedy ? Downloading is such a pain in the a** with cappy.

I hope you can understand my lame kind of English :D:cowboy:

That's most likely cause your Wifi drivers are outdated on the cappy. Flashing a kernel could help towards that. For stock GB, you can use Corn kernel, which can be flashed with Odin.

2Mbps connection = about 200-220KBps download speed. Can't get 400KBps on this connection. Something is wrong with your numbers. I've never measured my Captivate's WiFi speed, but it's pretty good, no complaints. My internet line is 6Mbps or about 600-640KBps download speed. Apps few MB in size download and update for seconds (CM10.1.3, Semaphore 3.0.0c kernel).

when i download movies etc on my laptop with bit torrent it gives me speed of upto 300kbps... mostly 262kbps. and my old phone really downloaded apps in a flash, but this one takes few minutes even to download a 10 12 Mb app :D i have tried corn kernal as suggested by someone here. and luckily this time i don't get any problem flashing this kernel, but i don't see much of a difference in downloading speed

Corn Kernel will make your phone run smoother in general on GB. Also, it's needed if you wanna flash up to JB.

That being said, I was taking a shot in the dark. Flashing GB kernel gave you newer Wifi drivers (not the newest) but as Val D. mentioned, I highly doubt you'll reach 400kbps with a 2mb connection.

hmmm my that phone used to cover one MB download in 3 JUMPs, it got to be over 300kb per JUMP to cover Download 1MB in 3 Jumps :cowboy:
Anyways one last question i wanna ask from you and Val D . if i create a BACKUP of my current rom using CW recovery and then i WIPE DATA in order to flash any Rom, will my back up would still be there after wiping? i mean if i want to come back to my stock rom (backed up rom in this case) will i be able to do that by just RECOVERING through CW Recovery?

It should be fine as long as you don't wipe your SD card (internal memory). I haven't used cwm in a while (now using TWRP) so I'm not 100% sure about the terminology they use.

Note that if you go up to ICS or JB, you'll have to flash KK4 without bootloaders before restoring your GB backup. Otherwise you'll soft brick your phone (it is recoverable).

Yes, all your CWM backups, music, videos, etc. will stay. Just remember that every CWM backup is for a specific Android version. You can't restore GB backup over JB partitions, nor JB backup over GB partitions.

ROM stable enough, but not updated for months and most likely won't be updated. Dev mentioned he is working on other 4.3 projects now. There is one more ported Xperia themed ROM in Development, see which one you like better.

I flashed that Xperia thingy successfully ! had a few issues flashing though but i sorted them out. I backed up data before Flashing, now if i want to flash back stock GB then i have to use "i897uckk4 Odin One Click - Stock, NO Bootloaders, Re-partition, Full Wipe" yeah ???
and if i want to Flash another Rom, Say "Optimum jellybean by Likeman" then what should be done?? and kindly Explain to me how can i Flash devil kernel ? thanks
