Hi everyone,

I'm looking for confirmation that the HDMI issues introduced with Asus' first release of JB 4.2.1 (10.6.1.8) has been resolved with 10.6.1.15.3.

Specifically, the issues that plagued me were:

- HDMI to TV output limited to 640x480 resolution.
- Missing HDMI Scaling/Cropping mode options.

I never even got around to testing HDMI audio before I decided to go back to JB 4.1.1, but I have seen the reports of HDMI audio issues here on this forum.

If anyone who is on 10.6.1.15.3 can confirm that these issues have been resolved, please post here!

I miss outputting at 1080p / 720p (depending on the TV) and cropping mode, and I'm not willing to update to JB 4.2 until these options are once again available to me, so I would really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks.

Audio issue fixed here for me - it would work on one screen but not on 2 others before the latest update

No cropping/scaling options in settings for HDMI, just 3D Output (if connected to 3D screen).

I've only had this a couple of months and started with JB so I don't know what other options there may have been before.

According to the screen it is receiving a 720p signal.

So, I took the plunge and upgraded to stock JB 4.2.1 (10.6.1.15.3). The output to TV does now go to 720p, but I am still missing the HDMI cropping and scalling options as you have indicated.

It looks like I'm sticking with JB 4.1.1 for a while longer...

Aaron, the cropping mode basically crops the status bar off the bottom of the screen on the TV, and gives me a "full screen" experience, which is great for when I'm playing emulators or watching videos and want some screen real estate that would otherwise be taken up by the status bar. And, it eliminates the bars that would otherwise appear on the left and right sides of the screen.

Thanks.

Hi!
ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T with TV FullHD Panasonic TX-P42VT20E

I still have the HDMI (resolution) problem:
with the previous firmware (Version 10.6.1.8 WW SKU) the HDMI signal was at 1920x1080p (1080p) always with the two vertical black bars in the left and in the right.
Now, with the latest firmware (Version 10.6.1.15.3 WW SKU), the HDMI signal is at 1280x720p (720p) always with the two vertical black bars in the left and in the right....
From what I see, even if the signal is 16:9 I still see the two vertical black bars in the left and in the right as if it were a 16:10 video format.... Then the HDMI signal is 16:9 but the video format is the same of the Tablet, then 16:10.
This is a very big problem to watch movies and youtube on TV!
At now I did not find a solution to solve the HDMI scale problem. The only workaround that I find is to lunch this command from a terminal:

am display-size 1280x720

this command will solve the HDMI scale problem, the HDMI output and also the tablet screen output will goes to 1280x720 (720p) resolution.
Now I would like to understand if there is a way to set the HDMI output at 1920x1080 (1080p) as the the previous firmware Version 10.6.1.8 works.
How is possible to "force" again the tablet to use 1080p resolution to the HDMI output? There is a conf. file into filesystem where this settings is setted?
Also, with Android 4.1 oldest firmware what was the HDMI output resolution? 1080p or 720p?

Thanks!

I don't know if anyone noticed but the HDMI output is streaming 5.1 PCM signal even if your content is only using 2 channel audio stream.

This will generate problem when you connect your tablet to a 5.1 Home Theater system and you will only get sound from front L/R speakers.

Hope Asus can fix this.
