I recently got an S2 which I believe was rooted but on stock (UK) firmware and the seller did a factory data reset.

I'd like to remove all traces of rooting so it can be repaired/replaced under Samsung warranty, but with such a wealth of info here @ XDA it's quite confusing.

These two pic's show it's current info:

I've used Odin in the past, so am willing to flash whatever is required to remove all rooting/custom rom evidence.

Thank you

same as above unless you doesnt havea jig.

1: flash stock ics using odin
2: root with cf-root
3: use triangle away
4: flash the official firmware for your phone / region using odin.
5: use the wipe code... *2767*3855#
6: dont root :p

Format cache, data, system, & sd card in CWRecovery, flash stock firmware with Odin, use jig to reset the flash counter. Done
Just clarify for my information, after these formats specially "cache, data, system" from recovery sombody accedentaly roboot the phone will it Brick the phone?

if yes please mention that too for precaution when suggesting...that after format you have to select switch off the phone not reboot..

No.

The phone won't boot until you flash a stock rom in Odin. It will not brick the phone. No need for/I won't be adding any 'precaution'. Not necessary.

I'm now on cm10 and i would like to get my galaxy s2 repaird by samsung.

I thought I could do it a bit differently:

1: use triangle away and reset the falsh counter
2: Whipe Data/Fatocy Reset and formating Sytem and...
3: flash the official firmware for your phone / region using odin.
4: wipe code... *2767*3855#

Do you think it would work like this as well ?

Thanks :)

Triangle Away currently works only for ics kernel as far as i know, so you will need to either flash CM9 or stock ICS (and root it) then use Triangle Away and reset the counter and then flash it with a stock rom of your choice.

Using GT - I9100

Thank's for the quick reply.

So i'll flash CM9 then use Triangle Away and reset the counter and then flash it with a stock rom.

I've still got 3 question left...
1: Whats the difference between stock ICS and an official ICS firmware ?
2: Can i just falsh CM9 over CM10 with CWM or do i need to flash it with Odin ?
3: Will the flashing of the official firmware delete ALL data or do i need to format anything with odin, to be sure that there will be no leftovers ?

1. Stock and offcial is the same thing
2.You can flash it with Cwm, just do a full wipe prior to install(data, cache, dalvik)
3. Flashing stock rom in Odin is just like flashing any other rom(with full wipe ofc). You personal data(internal/external sd) is not tempered with...

1. Stock firmware is the official firmware itself , official firmware is the firmware acknowledged by the company.
2.Yes,you don't need Odin you can do it via CWM
3 . You can choose whether to wipe data or not from CWM, flashing the Rom won't remove data from the internal memory or sd card.
