It seems that very few people know how exactly the automatic battery recalibration works that Android has to do as the battery ages.
From my own experience I can say that one continuous charge from 0% or unbootable to 100%, followed by a continuous discharge from 100% to cut-off, recalibrates the battery. When it formerly cut off at 5%, after this charge-discharge process it warns at 14%, at 4%, and cuts off at 0%, as it should.
But there are many open questions that only somebody can answer who has some fairly deep knowledge of the Android code. These are a few:
How exactly does it work?
What is the minimal procedure a user can perform to recalibrate the battery? Is it really necessary to go through an entire charge, followed by an entire, uninterrupted discharge phase? Or is there a faster or simpler procedure?
In phones that have removable batteries, how can Android keep track of multiple batteries? What, if anything, does the battery electronics store?
Please refrain from posting if you do not have any detailed knowledge. I get sick from reading these idiot posts in which people suck stuff from their fingers. I am longing for a thread in which nobody proposes a factory reset.
