Got a reply from swiftunlocks regarding the unlock.

It can definitely be done but the price is $19.99 and not $17 like it was mentioned by some other users. Also, the correct site for the code is swiftunlocks.net

Those of you who got their codes from swiftunlocks, can you verify this?

Thanks to this thread, I was finally able to get my Defy unlocked. Now I can finally flash the Froyo ROM...

T-Mo gave me an incorrect code and even tried to convince me that my phone was permanently locked. The whole process dragged on for 3 weeks!

I'm vouching for SwiftUnlocks as their service is topnotch! I ordered a code today and got the code today as well. Typed it in and boom, unlocked!

The correct site to get the unlock code is: SwiftUnlock.net

Just click on Motorola at the top menu and then choose the Worldwide Motorola 16 Digits service. The cost is $19.99 and not $17.00 like some other members posted.

Thanks SwiftUnlocks!

Just wanted to find out if there has been an issue with the new build Defy. I purchased one on Monday with a build date of Jan 6 2011. I have tried a couple places to get the unlock code and so far nothing.
swiftunlock has not responded yet, not complaining I ordered from them yesterday so it may be too soon.
the other remoteunlockers is trying hard and currently researching the issue, they've been very helpfull and have kept me updated with e-mails - great support repsonse.

I hope this doesn't drag on too long. I accidently ran my other phone over so I've been without phone com for a the week. If you're wondering, [email protected] doesn't have a phone I want so I figured I'd give the unlocked road a try.

Oh and T-mobile was a complete waste of time.

Well no response so far, getting concerned now.
tried to send a msg to swiftunlock but it got returned with this msg
"(reason: 553 sorry, your mail was administratively denied. (#5.7.1))"

not sure what the problem is.

I'm a bit pissed in general that unlocking a phone is this difficult. I could have more fun in vegas with $500 than this.

What e-mail ddress are you sending to?

Here are the contact details that they posted:

Yes guys I can do these codes no problem. They do take indeed 5 mins for a lot of them 2 business days. I am the main guy getting these. And I appreciate all the good remarks and recommendations. I have gotten over 50 requests a day because of you guys!

Btw best way of contact is [email protected] I will respond back for any inquiries and take care of any answers.

also I am on
aim: swiftunlocks
skype: swiftunlocks
yahoo: swiftunlocks

Yes, there are 2 similar sites. I ran into that problem last night. [email protected] goes with swiftunlocks.com.

I was talking with them last night and was able to get my defy unlocked.

swiftunlock.net = $19.99 USD
swiftunlocks.com = $17.00 USD

This is confusing, I went to swiftunlock.net placed the order last wednesday AM PST.
Received no conformation until Friday evening, tried to send a inquiry earlier in the day but it was refused from [email protected] o m, this was thru the website.

Friday evening a msg from [email protected] o m requested carrier lock info. no word still.

So I'm not sure about the swiftunlock singular vs plural swiftunlocks as the response email was from plural @gmail.

That seems weird. I guess the person is running both sites. I used swiftunlocks.com and received the same paypal email as you.

Then I received an email directly from [email protected] asking what I was purchasing/IMEI of device. About an hour later, received the unlock code which worked perfectly.

I'm glad it worked for you, I've still yet to receive any response other than asking what carrier it was.
I've paid 2 different sites last week and have yet to get any working codes.

I think this is the autoresponse, then he should contact you (he contacted me after this mail).
My Defy should arrive in these days and I asked to [email protected] the price of the unlock code:
17$ if its tmobile usa network
20$ for all others networks

I think it is good things if who had unlocked (or tried to unlock) reports here:
-the site where he bought the code
-the network to unlock/unlocked
-the price
-the result

Okay, for those interested here's a run down of what I've experenced so far.

swiftunlock:
response time: slow
support: poor
cost: $20 us
result: refunded on day 7 from order placement and day 4 from order confirmation. No code supplied.

review: Not sure what the issue is as I never received a response, the last response was simply a refund msg. I have no ill feelings here, it didn't seem to work and they refunded the cost with no issue.

The Remote Unlocker:
response time: fast
support: decent
cost: $30 us
result: 2 codes supplied, neither worked. msg received that the codes were in fact a single code separated. combined code in either iteration of combination did not work.

review: Initial response was fast, same day. codes received next day and msg exchange occurred over the day. last msg received was 6 days ago stating
theremoteunlocker said:
"we're looking into it to find out what the problem with your code is. I will let you know just as soon as we figure it out"
no response to further msg or inquires.

CellUnlock:
response: fast
support: good
cost: $15 cad

result: just ordered this morning, waiting.

hope that helps others...
