I am a newbie; I bought 2 days back a Lenovo Ideatab A3000-H and the version of software is 4.2.2 and I updated to A3000_A422_009_020_131112_WW_CALL_FUSE

I want to first back up this first (OS essentially as there is very little data now) and then root it; not keen to flash any customROM rightaway.

I am unable to find a simple step by step for backing up unrooted tablet and rooting. Any help will be much, much appreciated

Cheers and thanks

You just can't back up your tab in condition of unroot, it's not just like backing up app, so first thing to do is to root your tab, then use Titanium backup root.
You can use Framaroot and its simple. Just download Framaroot into your tab, then you can install it, then choose root.

I don't think the root is needed in order to have a full dump of the original rom.
With a "mixture" of actions with SPFT and MTKDROIDTOOLS yuo can dump the rom without any root.
I've tried some month ago, I should find some notes I wrote at time...
Anyway, any other suggestion is welcome!
