[Q] How to fully backup my phone?

Hi, I was on Motorola Milestone previously where I can easily run a nandroid backup to take a snapshot of my phone. Does anyone know if there are anything similar which allows me to do that? I would like to take a full backup of my phone before I go ahead with the root.

Any advice?
