[Q] How to improve sound quality during video recording

So I've noticed now that the stereo clipping/mic gain/hiss (whatever you want to call it) is back now in the latest ICS builds. Its not as bad as the original Sense 3.0 build was, but what I don't understand is that HTC got it right with their test build of Sense 3.5 2.08.401.1 on Gingerbread 2.3.5. Stereo recording was crystal clear on that build.

One would assume HTC would follow that into Sense 3.6, but the hiss/mic gain is back. Even with the latest camera mods that allow 20 or 40 mbps recording that takes excellent video, nothing can be done about the sound.
Oh well -back to using lgcamera from the market. At least it can be set to AAC 320kbs recording. Or camera ICS from the market also. Both allow higher video mbps for video.
Both these apps are mono - but the mono on these apps sound so much better than unchecking stereo in HTC camera app.

Sorry for my ramble - just my only gripe with the Sensation:D

I haven't noticed any major issues. I mean, it's not great, but then again, it's a cellphone camera and I've never expected the best of quality. However for the time being, I have disabled stereo recording. Thanks for the tip.

I think it maybe because the mic to sensitive or htc set it to high, I think below quote may can help a bit.

it should work, didnt check it but it has ti have this cofig file. It says in the first post, I used ES file manager, and enabled the root access feature and browsed to the file specified and chenged the 2 values.

I found the AIC3254_reg_dualmiccx file and after a loooong review of the datasheet from texas instruments, it seems that the video recording clipping can also be fixed this way. I found that in the:
A17,VideoRecord_IMIC,SET,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w
,,REGISTER,0x00,0x34,0x36,0x37,0x39,0x3B,0x3C,0x00,0x51,0x52,0x53,0x54,0x00,0x0E,0x0F,0x09,0x12,0x13
,,VALUE,0x01,0x20,0x02,0x20,0x02,0x58,0x58,0x00,0x00,0x88,0x00,0x00,0x01,0x02,0x02,0x3F,0x03,0x03

you can change 83 and 84 memory bank (0x53 and 0x54) to control the volume. 0000 0000 is default in the datasheet, which is 0dB.To lower the gain you have to write a negative digital number in those registers eg. 1111 1111 is a gain of -0dB.

Major two sound problems

I have two major sound problems with HTC.
1. While calling the sound is very low.
2. while taking video recording hissing sound even stereo is disabled i can see the sound distortion.

I flashed soundfix zip which didn't work.

Any solutions yet pls?

My solution is to use lgcamera from the market and use its camcorder. You can set the bitrate for audio and change to aac. It still records in mono but sounds so much better.
