If you wanted Android on it, why did you buy the Windows Tablet? Can you tell me how to install android on Acer Iconia Tab W500 with Windows 7 by default.I've tried the android-x86 project but the Wi-fi,bluetooth and cameras aren't working. Thanks in advance!
Would've been better getting one of those folder cases with the bluetooth or usb keyboard built-in..suppose he wanna the dock with keyboard.

If you are able to you should return it and purchase the Asus transformer if you are wanting androidand docking station. you won't be able to install honeycomb on it sadly. It would be like trying to install ios or android on my blackberry just as an example.I bought it ,because the docking station.
Not going to happen. You obviously haven't read any of the reviews on the early Win8 versions; it's generally seen as a big improvement over previous versions and it's especially good on mobile devices.I believe that Android on this device will lead to M$ going bye-bye
Unless you can code the drivers for those devices yourself then you're out of luck. There is no x86-based Honeycomb Android distribution whatsoever. Can you tell me how to install android on Acer Iconia Tab W500 with Windows 7 by default.I've tried the android-x86 project but the Wi-fi,bluetooth and cameras aren't working. Thanks in advance!
I agree with this person. If I'd have a W500 I'd like to try and get dual-booting working between some Linux distro and Windows 8. That way you'd get more-or-less the benefits of both worlds and you'd still be able to carry it all along with you.Why don't you try Windows 8 Developer Preview? There are several youtube videos showing the W500 running it. From the looks of the videos, I am actually considering picking up one and trying it myself!
It looks good with Windows 8. It even seems possible to switch out the 32GB hard drive for a larger one, if you need more space.
The W500 also seems to run Ubuntu pretty well. So there are a couple of other options that may be better than trying to make the switch to Android.

Because Android OS, while being fun and all, is an appliance based OS, just like Mac OS or iOS... Where as the x86 architecture Windows, and Linux runs on, and Apple eventually caved in and adopted, is the most capable and developer friendly architecture for real computers... Buying an Android only device is fine if thats all you need/want.. But if you want more out of your device, then this tablet is it.If you wanted Android on it, why did you buy the Windows Tablet?![]()
On Acer Iconia Tab W500 ??I have Windows 7, Ubuntu 11.10, and Honeycomb all running on this, with an ISO of x86 Ice Cream Sandwich downloading as I type...
Please can you link the ISO of Android OS for download?Get Linux Live USB creator.
Flash the Android X86 iso to an sd card
Boot tablet while holding down the key combo to get into the bios (forgot it, so google it)
Set bios to boot from SD card
Boot SD card and either use the live version, or install it...

Others may have figured this out already, but when I encountered this problem earlier today, I gave up on dual booting Win8 & Android. Since then, I have been reading the android-x86 thread on code dot google dot com -- see issue 503.Update : keyboard is not working when you want to select which OS to boot,
Is there away to do the same from Windows? I have seen some articles on booting from an USB drive and was going to play with the same approach with an SD card.Get Linux Live USB creator.

I'm actually very interested in a win8 tablet with bluestacks running on it. And then dual booting it with ubuntu too. Of course, it all comes down to performance. If it's not smooth, it's not really worth it.I agree with this person. If I'd have a W500 I'd like to try and get dual-booting working between some Linux distro and Windows 8.
