[Q] how to install custom rom?

Hi, i need another ROM on my htc sensation, now it have 4.0.3 (i bought it like that) i just need another rom, older/newer it doesnt matter.
Problem is that in all tutorials first step is installing cmw. But i dont know how to to that (probably). I use windows 7, via cmd i trying to flash recovery but it said signature verify fail, i tried flash kernel by htc one x tools )it probably isnt for this phone, not sure if X is for htc one X or for x models.

unlocked? Im not sure what do you mean...where do i find it?

,First, don't use anything labelled "not sensation", good chance you'll brick your device, second, untick fastboot in settings-power and turn off your phone completely
Third, hold volume down and power, don't let go until screen comes on white(10-15 seconds) . Write everything you see in that screen(bootloader) here
