I have got a Xperia ZL, 6503 model running the 10.1.1.A.1.253 firmware...
I know there is a Android 4.2.2 for the ZL, but I don't like it (had it on my first ZL, this is my second)

So I want to use this 10.1.1.A.1.253 firmware, because I like it, period.
BUT, I want rootacces as well and that's why I've started this thread :(

The 10.1.A.1.434 is rootable, I can flash it back on my device, and root it...
BUT, I can't flash the 10.1.1.A.1.253 .ftf because I will loose rootacces than.

I can't update OTA to .434 because my phone is saying that 10.3.A.0.423 is ready to download and I don't want that version...

Questions:
- Is there a method which can root .253?
- Is there a method where I can push .253 OTA instead of .423
(than I will go back to .434, root and push that .243 OTA)

I've tried several methods, but none of them is working :(

Yes, I reverted back to 253 on my C6506 and I used NUT's method to gain root. You just have to follow his instructions carefully. It's really not that hard.

As for the "it will reboot part" ... Just type the code below inside a terminal emulator and it will fix the reboot part until the next factory reset or until you enter recovery. I hardly ever go inside CWM or TWRP so I only typed the code once and thats it. I'm pretty sure NUT included a fix for the reboot part.. might be something to flash in CWM ... Either way root works on 253 with a locked BL. I'm on it now and I have a big fat smile on my face ... Im just waiting for a new build of the 4.2.2 to try again....423 has too many bugs! :p

su
/system/bin/stop ric
mount -o remount,rw /system
chmod 755 /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
