One thing You have to conclude. Is your version ME176C or ME176CX?

p.s. my conclusion it's me176cx which have only 2mpix rear camera

I think one of them has a 2 megapixels camera, but has 16GB storage, while the other one has 5 megapixels camera, but the storage has 8 GB.

Hey folks, are there any ROMS for this yet? What about a custom recovery? I'd like to make a backup image of my stock set up but haven't found a recovery for this yet.

new version or rootzenfone

Looks like version 1.4.6r or rootzenfone officially supports our ME176C. Just go to the asuszenfoneblog website and look for the latest in the blog. I'd post the URL, but I don't have my 10 posts yet.

Thank you very much. I just ordered one of these, but was stuck between this and a couple others.
I REALLY wanted the speed of this tablet, but couldn't find root for it at first, but decided to take the plunge anyways.
Now i know that when i receive it in a couple days, i can instantly root it and put back my games that i have Titanium backups with.
I would really feel more comfortable with a custom recovery but C'est la vie.

I posted a request for help in the Android Hacking / Q & A forum, and a request for a CM build on the CyanogenMod forums, regarding this tablet. Hopefully I get a response soon.

Is it safe to install updates after rooting with rootZenfone?
Can't say for sure, on the other thread regarding this tablet, a guy said that he updated it and he still has root. But other people said that they tried to update and it failed (they didn't specify if it's because they have root or not). In my case, I didn't root it yet so I just updated it, it completed succesfully.

Should be. The only issue it might have is if you removed stock apps and it fails because of that. I've heard of some device updates doing such, but nowadays it doesn't seem to happen as often.

EDIT: I could be wrong. There is a new update today, a small one, but it failed to install for me and now I can't figure out how to get the system to check for updates again. It keeps saying I'm up to date.
