Ok, So I am planning on buying a Desire HD From here

And a case from here

With this screen protector

According to the main phone page;

HTC Desire HD
8GB MicroSD Card <-- What sort of quality is this, and will it record 720p video well?
Stereo Headset
Battery
Charger <- I'm assuming it's a Mains AC Charger.
Data Cable
Quick start guide

Will this do for protection of the phone etc?

And does anyone have any recommendations? (my overall budget, being £470, the base price of htc DHD 1month ago.)

And the rounded total of the above being £458.

Any little accessories that are mega awesome etc? :D

720p recording is related to two issues

the formatting of the SD card, it should be formatted in 32k clusters, higher class speed cards are better in everything

720p is also related to multitasking you will need to kill tasks first

Ok, thanks!

I've also been reading that the battery is not that great, this does not worry me as I'm plugged in allot of the time.

Is there any news on bigger battery for the DHD?

The battery is OK given few cycles to be conditioned. Still you'll most probably need to charge it every night unless you use the phone very little. About the accessories - you might need to buy some better quality headphones, because the stock ones are bad (nothing
new for HTC). Apart from that, I don't think anything else is essential.

Yes. Well maybe you won't use it as a handsfree, because quality headphones generally don't have a microphone, but life is imperfect ;).

the SD card is perfectly capable, but it needs to be formatted to 32k cluster sizes. someone said that formatting it in the phone using android does this for you, but i used "SD Formatter v2.0" to do mine.
the charger is a USB cable with a mains adaptor, but it is VERY short. i used a couple of 30cm USB extension leads to lengthen it a bit.

i had a silicone case like that and it was terrible. it flaps off on all the edges, so i bought the official HTC slip case (i think its coded the S550) and its lovely. really nice. but you do take the phone out of it to use it so it doesnt offer much protection from being dropped (unless its in the case).
i have an official HTC screen protector as well, which is horrible. leaves smudge marks and finger prints all over it. the cheap 99p one off ebay was better.

I also have official screen protector and it is true for the smudges but on the other hand it fits perfectly and I don't feel any difference betweern phone with SP or without which is the most important to me.

I'm a slave to the addons, I cant recommend the Otterbox commuter case enough although I fine the hard shell is a bit slippery. For sounds look at the Sony mw-600 bluetooth headset (far from perfect but certainly does the job).

I had a gel case from Amazon prior to the Otterbox and that was a great fit for only £3.95. That with a couple of official HTC screen protectors only came to £6 and really would hav bben fine. As I said, Im just a slave to the add ons.
