[Q] HTC One Max (Verizon version) on T-Mobile Network?

The HTC One Max looks like a great phone, but I haven't seen any talk about a T-Mobile version.

Looking at the specs for the Verizon version, it looks like the 1700MHz band for LTE that T-Mobile uses is covered, along with the 1900MHz UMTS that T-Mobile uses in metro areas, and the 850MHz UMTS from AT&T (that I think T-Mobile can roam on from the failed buyout?). I'm finding the specs on various sites like PhoneArena and GSMArena

My question is, has anyone tried the Verizon version on the T-Mobile network to see if they can get 3G/4G connections?

Thanks

I haven't seen any rumor about a TMo specific Max. My best educated guess is that because the Max has the same insides as the regular One (minus the wifi) that the cellular radio should act exactly the same. If the Verizon One can get everything you need on TMo then I would be willing to bet so would the Max. I am trying to catch the deal with TMo prepaid sims when they have them for free and if I get one soon I will test for you.

Any word on this? I have reg htc one on t mobile and max on Verizon. Want to try this also but want to flash Max with t mobile custom of some sort. Max doesn't require SIM unlock either you just change in settings and reboot with new SIM. May have to create apn but haven't tried yet so not sure?

Got it all working with 4g data also

In build.prop change or add these if they dont exist

ro.ril.gprsclass=14
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=14
ro.ril.hsupa.category=7
ro.ril.hsxpa=2
ro.telephony.lteOnGSMDevice=1
ro.telephony.default_network=9

Also open the /system/customize/ACC/default.xml file, is a boolean variable “sku_id”. Change the value of “sku_id” to the t-mobile one. Then save the file, and reboot your device.

<item type="integer" name="sku_id">11</item>

Then go into the *#*#4636#*#* menu with the phone dialer (it will be enabled now) and change the network type to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto"

That 4g logo only is there if you make that show instead of the standard in the build prop. I made that change but you don't have to. And I just stuck mine in a random place too. Btw , this was my latest speed test results.

i dont get that at all in my area haha i get max 2.8mbps

well let me tell you what i did to get the lte running on t-mobile

1. reset phone with the RUU rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2587336

2. install twrp. load into recovery and install superuser. follow the instructions from the following link but DO NOT install the kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2550559

3. once twrp and superuser is installed, download and flash flykernel 2.0. / 4.4.2 version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2728103

4. install NuSenseSIX-KitKat_t6_RC3.0_050314.zip this one comes with its own blinkfeed/ sense 6.0. it already has the presets for t-mobile and they are locked. the moment you change your connection to global mode or any other, it will ask you to choose your carrier.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=5995

5. use and abuse your phone. 4g lte kinda uses your battery life a tiny bit more, so what im doing is
1. got app debloater for htc one max. simple google search will get you there
2. i got Htc one max clearROM as a back up. its only 700 to 1gb. really slim and fast.
3. switch from rom to rom depending on weather you want fast ass internet or long as battery life

xda has helped me alot so im just trying to help. i havent seen this solution anywhere else so i hope this helps people out there :p:mad::laugh::victory::D:)

I did everything and seems to work until I go to ES editor to change the xml file with value=11. It keeps saying failed to save because the file is read only... How do I change the xml for the edit to save?
