[Q] Insert sim notification

Been using my galaxy tab for a while now and overall very happy with it.

I have a slight niggle RE: the "insert sim card" notification... I don't want to. It's nice to know I have the option but I don't want to use it other than via wifi.


So every time I boot the device I have the "no sim" icon in the notification bar. Is there a way to get rid of this?


Also "cell standby" seems to be using a lot of battery. I'm not sure why, perhaps it keeps trying to find a sim card?

Insert a sim card...it doesnt have to be active im pretty sure. Just set up a pay as you go account on the sim card that should have come with your tab but dont put money on the account.

Just enable airplane mode to remove the icon and also cell standby will be cut to 0% with airplane mode on. Then just enable wifi and ur good to go.

Cheers, will try an old sim I dont use anymore.

@Locster126 That does work, but replaces the "insert sim" icon with the airplane icon.
