Will the xtc clip for sure do the job?

Sent from my HTC Aria using XDA Premium App

Again, yes, it does - it works perfectly. I obtained an Aria with a smashed digitizer that still worked that had AT&T's 2.2.2 update on it. The XTC clip set radio s-off, set supercid and removed sim lock allowing the phone to be used on any network. Then I was able to flash the stock RUU and then root it normally. Then I dumped my Alpharev Hboot from my other Aria and was able to flash it on my new beater. Now it has clockwork recovery, radio s-off and the equivalent of ENG S-OFF (courtesy of IEF/kmdm of AlphaRev).

If anyone want's details, drop into the IRC channel in my sig. There's a guy that frequents that channel that runs an independent cell phone store, and he also has a clip. I am sure something can be worked out for those willing to pay a nominal fee and return shipping.

Oh, on a side note, I obtained a digitizer for the smashed Aria and installed it. Everything works fine, but the new seal is clear and leaks light like an SOB from the buttons to the touchscreen. Once I seal that up, it'll be 100%.

I am anxiously awaiting Alpharev 2.0 for the Aria support. The only question being in Alpharev 1.8 they require you to be running a rooted rom which would not be the case with anyone on the official ATT 2.2.2 rom.

Right, so AlphaRev will not be a solution. Where are you located?

Will the new alpharev work on the original hboot?for those of us who didn't let at&t/HTC shaft us?

Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
When and if they release it, yes, on the original hboot - not the 1.02 hboot.

Why didn't they release it? They should have Aria included when 1.8 was released. I spent only 3 days to figure out 1) the SPL patching pattern including flashable MISC partition (by comparing SPLs of other supported devices to their original ones), and 2) the way to flash it (I've got lucky that the Espresso boot image works on Liberty). I just haven't repacked them into a liveCD (some /dev files lost when I unpacked it). It ran fine in linux terminal, though.
Have they planned to release it?

I won't, unless AlphaRev officially announce that they quit developing their project.
Have you tried contacting them directly? I've been waiting patiently checking their site every day and it never gets updated. So if they've abandoned the project I'd be very interested in what you've got.

Sent from my cm7 Aria.

How does the pay as you go version work?

Sent from my HTC Aria using XDA Premium App
Same thing as the XTC clip but you get unlock credits. With the normal clip there is no limit to how many phones you unlock with it. With the "pay as you go" clip you get one credit to unlock a phone and if you want to do more you need to pay for more credits through the software that comes with them.

Based on what I have seen the normal clip is around 140 USD and the "pay as you go" clip would be around 40 USD.

Downgrade

First downgrade ti 2.1 use extracted from stock ROM 2.1 LIBEIMG.ZIP
Put it on sd card and reboot with holden volume down and power.

I think that's works

Doesn't work. You can't downgrade the HBOOT even with this method.

Edit: To clarify, that method does work to downgrade your phone to 2.1 (in case you prefer it over 2.2.2), but it won't allow you to root the phone.
