The rooting methods are fairly safe but if your not a person that can humble them self to read very carefully all directions and do exactly what is described in the directions then you should stay clear of rooting. I say this because there are many posts from those that think a tablet is the same as a phone, some don't read the setup requirements and they brick or nearly brick there tablets.

NOTE: You will not be able to completely return your Note 10.1 2014 to the way is was before rooting.........

Yes you can restore to stock firmware but when rooting the process trips a knox count that can not be reset, this action may or may not void your warranty.

Do a search and decide for yourself.

Like I said, read around. Here are some tips to help you get started.
There are 3 versions of the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. A Wifi only model (SM-P600), A 3G model (SM-P601) and a 4G LTE model (SM-P605).
You have to know which model you have before you know what to search for.

Rooting will set a flag on your device. There is no way to reset it. Samsung can tell the device was tampered with.

Some people have been denied warranty service because of this flag. Some people have received warranty service without problems.

tampering with your device in any way is not "safe." there is always the chance of a mistake. a file could be corrupted in a transfer, you could flash the wrong thing etc. that eing said, if you follow all of the directions thoroughly and ask questions when needed, you will minimize your risk of screwing up and inventing a new $600 paperweight.

you can always flash back to stock, but as others have said, it does trip knox
