Quite curious as I am under the assumption that when the phone is in DEEP SLEEP, the CPU is powered down to conserve battery. However, if BLN is active with blink notification how is blinking controlled?

On a related note, does no blinking save or not save any battery life?

EDIT: Sorry, I meant DEEP SLEEP. DEEP IDLE is so frequently used on the forums I mistaked it in this post.

first of all, i think you dont understand what deep idle is. deep idle is a very low power state where your cpu IS active. for example, its used when you are listening to music with your screen off. deep sleep is when your cpu is in a hibernating state, when your phone isnt active and the screen is off. deep sleep is the ideal state to save battery. but when your cpu is active, deep sleep isnt possible. the next step up is deep idle(not all kernels have this as it also is guilty of causing issues for some phones). when the soft keys are blinking, this does wake your phone from deep sleep.

Ahh! That was my mistake. I definitely do know what DEEP IDLE is. I meant DEEP SLEEP. (I know it doesn't help when I put it in caps.) DEEP IDLE is an additional state introduced by Ezekeel as an intermediate state between DEEP SLEEP and IDLE. I understand.

Regarding my question, does that mean your phone is not in sleep while blinking is occuring? It seems like such a waste of battery.

thats one reason i dont use it. the other is that i would rather check for notification on my time :)

Blinking keeps the phone awake (excessive battery drain, deep idle helps but it's not worth it still). If you keep it static and on, the phone will happily go into deep sleep (this is how i set mine up).

You can test this with CPU Spy if you like, these are my findings.
